My list part 2
Top 20 favourite albums from artist form USA and Canada
also a video of my fave song of each album.
from 10 to 1
10. Voodoo by D’Angelo - Three albums, and the three are peak, he was such a gem, and an iconic figure for r&b, neo soul funky jazz music, there are not enough words to describe how good this album is, im not joking it is an experience, an amazing one, and Untitled it is still one of the most sensual and gorgeous songs ever.
9. Torches by Foster the People - I have been following Foster the people since this album and even if they have really good music, honestly really groovy, this album is pure nostalgia to me, I come back to it when feeling dawn, mostly is that why is it here if i am honest, but it is also a pretty great synthy dancy album.
8. Juno by Remi Wolf - I think this album didn't get as much attention as it should have, it is amazing, like why was so slept on?It is great, it has such a personality. Remi also has such an interesting range that is underrated, for real this album hit hard, and “big ideas” is also great, she is a great musician.
7. Ctrl by SZA - This album hits, as in it hits in my self loathing, it is so good on how vulnerable it is, i have cried to it, i have scream the lyrics, i have understand it and hate it, and love it, is such a great piece of mind. Great composition and lyrics.
6. Desire, I Want to Turn Into You by Caroline Polacheck - I listen to Caroline before her solo work, i was a fan of Chairlift and then i followed her as Ramona Lisa, so when she released Pang, I was thrilled, but my love to it came with time, from listen to listen, on the other hand, desire… was an instant love to me, the songs are rich as her voice, the summer feel is palpable by the intro song, that when we go to the end you can feel the end of the season, it is that great that the deluxe version it is also amazing, I adore Caroline and i admire her a lot.
5. Preacher’s Daughter by Ethel Cain - This album is amazing, the lore behind it is rich and enchanting, you can feel the emotional turmoil and the solace in each song, the beginning for hope in every line, is a piece of art. I fell in love instantly from the beginning. It is that good, and it is also so cinematic, each song feels like a movie. I also want a tattoo of the lyrics of “Sun Bleached Flies” on the back, I will get it some day.
I COULDN'T ADD THE LINK TO SUN BLEACHED FLIES AND IDK WHY
4. ANTI by Rihanna - (I know Rihanna is from Barbados, but again this is my list) I am so happy to be alive in a world where Rihanna had a chance to make this piece of soul, this album is amazing from start to finish, is experimental and it feels like that, is sweaty but cold, it is pop but it is r&b and electro, it is love and sex and freedom.
3. LOVE POP & PT 2 by Current Joys and Sunday In Heaven by Zella Day - Yeah there is a tie…
I love Nick, he is a versatile artist, i have been following his steps since 2013, as a solo and in Surf Curse, his album East my Love accompanied me tightly last year, but i think LOVE POP is the record that most go out from what he usually does, and it is in that sound that i encounter a lot of joy and good mixing, it is a great album and it does accompany me throughout my days.
Sunday In Heaven is also an album that hitted me but this time it hit me like a tennis ball to the chest. I love Zella’s voice, it is strong and sharp and raspy, the lyrics are painful, ironic and soft, it is an album that I go to whenever I feel lost. There is a warmth to it, that makes you feel you are not alone, and I love that.
2. Brand New Eyes by Paramore - Hayley is my crush, she is gorgeous talented and versatile, and my style icon, I LOVE THIS WOMAN, Paramore is one of the bands I have been a fan since the beginning, some albums I like, some others I find okay but this one, this one is perfection, is so so good, and it has accompanied me through so much, and I have dedicated a lot of songs from here a couple of times, is punk is rock is soft.
1. EMOTION by Carly Rae Jepsen - There is a misconception from people in my life that believe my favourite pop artist is Taylor Swift because I went to the Eras Tour… no that is a big lie, I mean I did went to the tour, she is not my favourite pop artist, Carly is.
She is what i would call a perfect pop singer, her songs are pure pop, there is no other way to describe it. I remember the first time I heard Tug of War, and then I obsess with Call me maybe, and I never put my eyes away from her since that moment in 2011.
All of her albums had accompanied me in moments, as if her life overlapped mine, but emotion is as its title says a full master of feelings, and I dedicated a few of the songs in it to the two guys I have loved the most. This album represents something deep inside me, it is in a way a part of me, and I will always love it.
