What weapons other than devil fruit powers and swords could ocs in the one piece world have?
Hey! Thanks for the ask and sorry for my long absence! I had a friend over, things happened, university started, then more things happened and are currently happening, so... I might not be as active for a while.
Anyways, back to this question. The answer is fairly simple: Literally any you can think of. Anything that could even somewhat be considered a weapon can be used by a One Piece character. But let me give you some options to think about:
I'm gonna touch on swords anyways because I feel like people don't fully realize what range of swords there is. Look at this post. It's a meme post, but you get the gist. The most common sword in One Piece is the katana but did you know that there are different lengths of katana? You could also give your OC a Zweihänder, a viking sword, a Roman gladius, a rapier, a cutlass, a cane sword... get creative!
Second very common weapon: Guns. Once again: Get creative! Marine soldiers use rifles, but you could also opt for a revolver, a flintlock, hell, a bazooka, a machinegun...
Different long-range weapons: Consider slingshots, bows, crossbows and the like.
Smaller, stealthier weapons. There are very tiny guns out there. Daggers, shurikens, kunais, needles, war fans, brass knuckles...
Polearms! Spears, lances, bo staffs, halberds...
There's a lot more out there. Whips, axes, hammers, clubs...
Create your own weapons! Literally, get creative. Maybe research some old weapons that are obsolete today - you'll find some really interesting stuff!
And if none of the weapons you find strike your fancy, your OC might just use hand-to-hand combat or martial arts. Or maybe they ride a ferocious animal? There are some big, dangerous animals in the One Piece world, you'll find or come up with something.
Literally, there are pretty much no limits to your creativity when it comes to what weapons to give your OC. My advice would be to think about what kind of weapon would suit or OC's abilities or requirements. A stealthy thief would not carry a Zweihänder because it's big and hard to conceal. Someone who doesn't have a lot of physical strength would not do well with a weapon reliant on brute force.
helloooo evie lovely archivist of this blog ‼️ so im making a one piece oc and the main idea was that he comes from an island where archery was founded and is deeply rooted in its culture and traditions but its a practice only for men and my (trans male) oc wants to change that and spread it all over the world for everyone BUT i just got up to watching amazon lily and the kuja use bow and arrows 💔💔 i was under the impression that archery/bow and arrows werent used much (or at all) in the op universe so i was wondering what record of archery there is in the op universe?? because in my idea my oc would be taken hostage by the marines for using archery (it was an old marine technique used in the early days but died out shortly after a marine admiral who had decided he was going to be the best archer in all of the marines and banned everyone except him from practicing it died 😖) so idk how thats gonna work now?? also sorry for the ramble lol 😭😭
Hey! Thanks so much for your ask!
This concept is really cool, I love it! You're right, there are very few archers in One Piece. After a quick bit of research, the archers that can be found in the world of One Piece are all either noncanon, Kuja, sky people, or pirates.
So, I think your concept might still work! The practice could still be outlawed, which is why pirates use it but civilians usually don't. Also, the Kuja and sky people using it doesn't have to be an issue, because those cultures are both more or less isolated from the rest of the world.
Other cultures besides your OC's culture aving a form of archery also doesn't have to be an issue. First of all, parallel developments aren't unheard of historically. Two cultures that have nothing to do with each other can invent something independently from each other and still both have invented it. It's really no big deal. It's especially no big deal if they have their own "versions" of the invention. For example: Kuja don't have bows. The archery bow could have been an invention of your OC's island, or perhaps they invented a specific variant of the archery bow - see for example the different between "Western" archery and kyūdō.
I hope this helped with your question! Have a lovely day ^^
Long popular in the West, the mass-produced, one-handed, double-edged heavy broadsword commonly used by the Legions is descended from the original elaborate, decorated Breton broadsword designs. The Nordic broadsword developed independently, and is a more plain, practical weapon. All broadswords are commonly used with sword-and-shield techniques, the Bretons favoring the heavy tower shield, while the legions prefer a smaller standard-sized shield.
The blunt weapon discipline is the study and mastery of the club, staff, mace, and warhammer weapons styles. To use any style of weapon effectively, the user must be trained, conditioned, and skilled in its use.
Clubs and staves are cheap, easy-to-master, all-purpose weapons for travelers and militias. The mace and morningstar are one-handed, the warhammer is two-handed, slow, and heavy; all three are proper weapons for professional warriors. Rank them by effectiveness as club, staff, mace, morningstar, and warhammer, with club least effective.
Legend has it that a nobleman sank his fortune into creating a blade of supreme power. Two smiths on opposite ends of Tamriel created each half of the blade, unaware of the other, with the hope that no one man, save the owner of the blade, would know its true power. Unfortunately, the smiths were not given enough instruction, and created halves with enchantments that completely negated each other. Do you wish to part with it, [PC]? I can offer you 20000 for it.
