The home territory of the culture in which TumblrCreatedConlang is the primary language is a mountain range bounded by sea on one side and plains on the other. Most of the territory is in the subarctic region.
The region can be accessed from the plains by the Northern, Central and Southern Passes although only the Central Pass is passable for more than a single month in height of summer. From the sea the only good landing point is the harbour below Settlement 1 but the Bay is subject to extreme tidal bores, with the daily average bore height being 3-4m and with highs of 10m during spring tides. During the winter months the region is battered by storms coming from the west, preventing access from the air and sea and causing flash flooding of the Northern and Southern Passes.
The Bay itself is sheltered by the peninsula so any ships caught short by the beginning of the storm season are safe provided they remain in the Bay.
