obligatory celica icon because it’s about to go down
okay, so, celica and alm’s roles in their stories. it’s first important to know that their stories are pretty separate and I don’t think a lot of people realize that ? I mean, sure their stories and paths intersect a few times, but for the most part, their separate. the very reason why they even go on their journeys are different: alm’s is to fight against rigel because they’re invading and celica’s is to go to mila’s temple because the crops are dying and something is Not Right. while they’re both fighting for justice, alm’s approach is more violent where celica’s in more peaceful ( this isn’t to say she won’t use force because obviously she will and has, and despite what some of the fandom believes and what warrior’s says: she detest war so much as to not see any other option besides peace )
a lot of people tend to soften up alm and a character and that’s such a disservice to him ? like I’m not saying his grief or doubt over his actions isn’t justified, because it is, it’s just literally in his nature to be more violent and reckless. just as how celica is supposed to be like mila incarnated, alm is duma incarnated. the parallels are obvious hopefully, so that’s why it doesn’t work to just switch roles / switch personalities, because that goes against their core traits ( now: that’s different then swapping roles and keeping their personalities. like if alm got sent away to novis instead of celica and still being reckless instead of a pacifist )
and even more so than that, the fandom seems to like making celica out to be this clueless and helpless girl protagonist that has to be saved by her male counterpart and ??? that’s not it at all ?? in gaiden, she doesn’t get tricked by jedah at all and instead meets up with alm and his crew in the final battle. that part of sov really irks me but that’s besides the point. it’s incredibly rude to celica to boil her down to one trait and turning her into some helpless lady when she isn’t one. despite popular belief, she doesn’t need alm to come save her she can do that herself. celica and alm balance each other out and are each other’s rocks, but you can simplify bith of them or pump one up while putting the other one down.

@torhamar:
you cant tell us how great arvis was as a father u give us this
@torhamar:
VICTOR IS FAKE HES DEAD
@torhamar:
KURTH IS ARVIS’S NEW DAD
from just the wiki:
Victor was infamous for having a myriad of mistresses, taking Cigyun as his wife at an unknown point in time and eventually bearing Arvis with her. When Arvis was about seven years of age, Victor raped Cigyun's favourite maid while in a drunken stupor, accidentally impregnating her in the process. Victor attempted to banish her, but Cigyun prevented it. His illegitimate son, Azelle, was raised in the household.
His behavior drove Cigyun to misery, and she eventually fell in love with Prince Kurth, who had helped and supported her throughout. Victor discovered their affair and, despite his own infidelities, was enraged. He wrote a letter condemning Kurth and Cigyun before committing suicide. (In the Oosawa manga adaptation, Victor takes poison and is discovered spread-eagled in a pool of dark liquid.)
Victor is mentioned very briefly in the game, specifically that of Chapter 2. He does not appear in-game, as his death took place several years before the events of Genealogy of the Holy War.
