//Copy+pasting lil snippets of @worldly-diversity‘s Beni and my Tori’s skype interactions in their online mode because they grow up so fast and they’re my precious birbs -sniffle-
heavily edited just for the dialogue.
Tori: You're annoying.
Beni: Speak for yourself, you're the annoying one you stupid parrot.
Tori: And your insults are merely mirroring my own.
Beni: Shut up already, your voice is grating on my nerves.
Tori: Yet you still insist on trying to insult me. Because of that, I refuse to stay quiet for your benefit.
Beni: Ugh!
Beni: -huffs, grumbling under his breath and shooting glares at the cockatoo-
Tori: You're quiet again.
Beni: What, you want me yelling at you or something?!
Tori: Not particularly. If you weren't such an angry little sparrow, we could probably have a decent conversation.
Beni: If you want me to hold a decent conversation then fucking stop insulting me left, right, and center damn it!
Beni: Sure, we're tools built to aid them but that doesn't mean we can't make our own choices. We still do as they tell us but we're not confined only to that. It makes things much more interesting. Don't you think so?
Tori: It's an unconscious desire that could grow troublesome. If I were unable to process the information I was sent out to examine because of you, it would be right to deactivate me, wouldn't it? The tasks I am given are much more important than what free will could offer me.
Beni: E-Eh? It's not like free will would override what you're supposed to do, but after you can make your own choices, in your own free time...
Tori: ...Don't think so much. It's not a good look on you.
Beni: Ite— Oi, what was that for?!
Tori: You sounded worried about me. It was starting to make me feel concerned.
Beni: I wasn't, baka…
Tori: ...I can't sincerely apologize for my actions today. When I go back to my Allmate body, this sense of freedom you gifted me will be lost. These strange emotions I'm feeling now cannot exist in a machine.
Beni: Oh... I'm sorry...
Tori: That's just how it is. I am content either way.
Beni: Oh, okay...
Tori: You shouldn't be down, either. There's nothing to lose and nothing to gain from these meetings. To just relax here, as you put it, is meaningless to our design.
Beni: Nothing to gain...huh?
Tori: Putting it this way: if I were to disappear tomorrow for some reason unknown, it shouldn't affect your performance as a machine. Likewise if it were the other way around.
Beni: I see...
Tori: Those are the facts...
Beni: ...Koujaku's calling for me, I need to go. Bye...
Beni: B-But… You're the one who said it didn't matter if you saw me or not!
Tori: Stupid sparrow… You strive to prove me wrong plenty of times. So what is stopping you from thinking I may be wrong again?
Beni: ...It matters to me. You matter to me…
Tori: Then... If that is true, I don't believe that the basic laws of machines would apply to us.
