a  thud  is  heard  as  her  body  collides  with  the  mat  on  the  ring’s  ground.  echo’s  leg  pressing  her  middle  while  holding  her  arm,  slightly  twisted  not  enough  to  hurt,  just  enough  to  keep  her  in  place.    raven  stays  in  the  same  spot  for  a  few  moments,  unwilling  to  admit  defeat  but  eventually  tapping  echo’s  shin.    ‘   one  day  i’ll  win.  ’    breathless  but  smiling  and  look  towards  echo,  now  sitting  next  to  her. 

limbs  are  released  and  despite  raven  staying  laid  down  on  the  ground,  she’s  never  felt  more  alive.   spacewalking  excluded.   learning  how  to  fight  feels  like  she’s  getting  control  of  her  body  again.   a  feeling  she’s  been  chasing  for  a  long  time.   however,  she  especially  enjoys  her  sparring  sessions  with  echo  and  bellamy.    speaking  of  which…      ‘   quit  smiling,  blake,  and  come  over  here  with  us.   ’     challenging  him,  when  she  notices  him  standing  in  the  corner  of  the  room.

❝     that’s  the  one  thing  we  don’t  have !     ❞     voice  carries  out  in  the  tiny  college  dorm.     caroline  is  acutely  aware  of  just  how  whiny  she  sounds,  but,  truthfully,  she  doesn’t  care.     this  very  well  could  be  her  mother’s  last  christmas  and  they  were  stuck  waiting  for  stefan  to  find  an  extension  cord  they  can  use  for  the  christmas  light.     tears  pool  in  baby  blue  eyes  and  bottom  lip  quiver  slightly  as  she  glances  back  at  her  mother.     ❝     i  just  need  everything  to  be  perfect,  mom.     ❞

frantic footsteps pace across the flooring of the office. with the rest out on a lunch break, she finds herself in a unique predicament. a recent heartbreak from the slew of suitors, addison has been feeling hopeless. all the feelings burgeoning within herself until it blooms -- explodes. 

“ m-maybe i should stop dating and just die alone! i-it’s as if all the good people out there are all taken or secretly trash,” she huffs before a dramatic pause. “ ...i think i’m going to die alone. ”

“Do you think we’re safe, Selene?” Michael had been still growing used to everything. It had been a few weeks since his return into her life, having broken free of his chains and finding his way to his mate once again. The scar that marred his neck was a topic he had been attempting to avoid but every now and again he had moments like this. Where he was looking over his shoulder, assuming that someone was going to hurt him, and he felt far more on edge than he probably should have. “Are we truly safe now?”

          she winces at his tone of voice, refusing eye contact while brushing by him on the way to the kitchen. clarke knows that she should've let monty know that she was okay, that she hadn't been kidnapped or in an accident or god knows what else. it would've been the polite thing to do, informing her roommate that she was fine. really, she knows that. but.. when clarke had gotten into her jeep after her latest session with her therapist, she'd just started to drive and hadn't stopped.

          that was three days ago.

          "i'm sorry."   it's all she can offer, really. all she knows to say. lips press together as she grabs a bottle of water and lingers at the fridge, staring blankly into it. how did she explain to him that she hadn't called because she forgot how to function for three days? how did she tell him that she didn't remember driving for three days straight, didn't remember any part of the journey except the one conscious decision to come home? how did she tell him anything without worrying him even more than he was already?

          finally she turns, letting the door shut behind her as she blinks dull blue eyes at him.   "i'll try not to do it again."   because promises were pointless at this point, clarke knew.

          except it wasn't just a dream. no, it had been clarke's reality at one point. it had been a living, waking nightmare that she had been forced to participate in. but how was she supposed to say that? how was she supposed to throw those words in lexa's face when it had been her who had been kidnapped? when it had been her who never made it home? when it had been her clarke had looked, and looked, and looked for? she couldn't, there was no way. so instead she swallows the words, the fear, the panic. she swallows it all downs and offers a trembling half smile, nodding her head just slightly as she tries to remember the breathing techniques her therapist had taught her.

          it takes longer than she cares for, and she has to restart the process three times, but eventually clarke can take in steady breaths. she can release the sheets that she's curled under her fingers, the rest of her body following  ---  a coil of tension that slowly bleeds out. finally, finally, she can swallow the lump in her throat and look at the woman next to her with clear eyes.   "i'm okay,"   she promises, the words no longer sounding like a lie. she was okay, it was just a dream this time.   "sorry i woke you."

          a hum vibrates her throat, eyes refusing to move away from the window and the sight that laid beyond that. she didn't have it in her to look at hotch, didn't really have it in her to have a conversation about this at all. but short of telling him to go away and hoping he'd listen, emily knew she didn't have many other options. instead she just stands there, resisting the urge to unfold her arms and start picking at her nails  (  she's done so good, they look so healthy  ). if she can maintain the silence for at least five minutes, she's sure that he'll leave her to brood in solitude. and if all else failed, she had no problem walking away herself  (  stubbornly refusing because she had been there first was childish, she was aware, but she felt they were all allowed their small quirks  ). when she hears him taking in a breath, preparing himself to say something else no doubt, she finally cuts her gaze to look at him.   "if you tell me things get better, i swear, hotch.."   toeing the line of threatening her boss and trying to appreciate the sentiment, emily simply stares at him for a long moment, before allowing her gaze to once again shift out the window. if he wanted to stand there in silence with her, fine. so be it. but if he started talking again..
