"Hey!"
The nudge at his hip becomes more insistent. Only when Jikhaa registers the barest pause and briefest contact indicating a shove does he twist away from it, backstepping smoothly enough that the offending arm straightens without resistance, palm brushing a rotating body to lie harmlessly flat against his abdomen when it stops. He is a full few heads taller than the limb's owner.
"It is you. You've some nerve showing your face around here." The pirate cranes her head to see an even larger Xaela approaching from behind the first, his expression concerned and apprehensive, and nearly another fulm above his companion. She disregards him as she sees her addressee press him back, nevermind that his presence could become troublesome if the situation escalates. Not that she hadn't already almost crossed that perilous line. "Well, what little face you're showing."
Her jest elicits no smiles, not even an empty chuckle. His eyes, the only parts of him that appear to harbour any fire, seem to stare right through her. He speaks not a word.
"'So what?' That what you're saying?" She shrugs, shaking her hands as if this is a light-hearted encounter. But she settles her weight towards her rear heel and draws a deep, calming breath. She does so gradually, knowing the time she is allowed, though she keeps careful watch. At last she asks, "Where were you? We had an arrangement."
A moment of silence passes before Jikhaa replies, "Not there."
"No shite. Why not?"
"Changed my mind."
"Is that right?"
Again he offers no response but she can hardly fault him for that.
"That's not gonna fly. You've put us in a bit of a jam, see..." She glimpses the lash of his normally unassuming tail, just the one motion, and she instinctively raises a hand to the knife at her belt--the sword would be unwieldy in these close quarters--
Abruptly there is no knife to pull. For an instant she had felt a weight atop her fingers and then it was gone, the weapon seeming far too small in the grip of her opponent. He doesn't brandish it, doesn't flaunt it. He simply holds it, his features utterly impassive as he regards her.
She doesn't hesitate. Snatching the knife by the blade and tearing it out of his grasp, she raises her other hand to catch the handle and bring it back down on the man's chest. But this is no fair fight. The second Xaela surges forward.
