My heart aches for all the lives lost and those injured in the #Torontoattack. As a proud Canadian and Torontonian I am encouraged by the stories of the amazing people in my community...this is the Toronto I know: "more people ran to help the victims than ran away in fear. To the bystanders who called 911, held hands of the injured, performed CPR, the man who assisted the officer by stopping traffic while he made the arrest; one bad person so many more good ones" @muckypawdotca #TorontoTheGood #Torontostrong - #myhearttoyours (at Toronto, Ontario)

This would've been a great post for #Easter but I forgot. 😪 🌄 Life can change in an instant. 🌄 Last week we were experiencing a high of -2 C and freezing rain; today it was a balmy 18 C and San Francisco had nothing on us in terms of weather. 🌄 I'm also thinking about the killing in Toronto at an intersection that, as a TTC commuter living in the East end, was pretty much my second home. If I were still in Toronto, there's a very good chance I would've been at Finch Station at the time the murders happened. 🌄 Friday at Mt. Calvary was a very sad day for many as they watched their Lord die and their Hope buried. They couldn't possibly have seen Sunday coming. 🌄 Friends, sometimes neither can you. Nor can I. 🌄 If you are alive, death may be around the corner (morbid, I know, but no less true). If you are happy, sadness can be right around the corner too. 🌄 But the reverse is also true -- you may be sad today, you may be cold today, but who's to say spring won't (finally!!) show up and surprise you? It may be Friday in your life now, but maybe it'll all turn around... Maybe Sunday is coming. 🌄 You don't know. That's the point. Dark days have a way of not heralding the dawn. Be grateful and move forward. That's the only way we find out. #yongeandfinch #torontoattack #toronto #spring #sunday
I want to word this as eloquently as I can. Today a heartless act of violence occurred in my community and near my home after a monster plowed through innocent bystanders through every inch of Yonge Street between two very busy intersections. I am in shock and horrified that 10 innocent people have lost their lives today and a reported 15 others have been injured. In an area where the nightlife never ends, that my friends and I frequent, and people feel safe to walk about freely, this will have a lasting effect on the community. I can’t imagine what the victims families are going through. It’s hard not to be desensitized to these types of events anymore, but we can’t normalize such tragedies as something that “just happens now” in 2018.
