Richard Serra-Torqued Ellipses.  These pieces (which I'm quite sure the sculptor himself would reject being categorized under the title of this blog, or under any other title for that matter) are a perfect example of what "Choreographic Sculpture" means.  They infect our orientation and equilibrium, demanding instead that we share theirs.  From very early in his career, Serra has worked with our internal sense of balance as one of his primary tools.

"I found very important the idea of the body passing through space, and the body's movement not being predicated totally on image or sight or optical awareness, but on physical awareness in relation to space, place, time, movement...
