What can you tell us about Medix's relatives Apax, Torquesteer, and Wrench?
In that particular reality, the term does not always translate so literally—just as Ratchet was not Medix’s literal uncle, so too are Ratchet’s own “family” members not directly related to him; they are teachers, mentors, and caretakers who helped shape the young Ratchet into the wise, resourceful ‘bot he became.
Apax was the wise leader of Ratchet’s village during the Age of Origins. An early scholar and an early convert to Azimuth’s Patterner movement, she placed great importance on the value of knowledge and developed a system of cuneiform pictographs to better retain information, and archeologists believe that this might have been one of the earliest examples of written Cybertronian language.
Torquesteer was a professor at Cybertron’s first university in Iacon—the first neuroscientist in Cybertronian history, he was an accomplished scholar, thinker, and philosopher. His most notable contribution to the sciences was the creation of the Torquesteer Sparktype Tree, an attempt to map the different electrochemical compositions of each spark to variations in physical form and personality.
Finally, Medix’s own cousin Wrench emerged from the Well of All Sparks at almost the same time as Medix himself—however, Wrench wound up in a different batch of new protoforms. They remained quite close, however, and that is why the young Rescue Bot regards him as a “second cousin”. Like Medix, Wrench is an accomplished engineer, but is more interested in fixing machines than other ‘bots, and has put his race car alternate mode to good use on the refurbished Hydrax Speedway.
