Tortoise Pose, aka Kurmasana, is a centering pose usually just practiced in Ashtanga Primary Series. Tortoise strengthens the back and helps tone the abs. Although this pose also helps open the hips and hamstrings, it does require a certain amount of flexibility in order to attempt it as well. Therefore we'll be opening up to flatten down tonight in my 7pm Vinyasa class at Karen Lord Pilates Movement. See you there!
