I think the magic of TOS Spirk and the reason AOS spirk can never ever compare is that tos spirk is SO established.
There's no awkward meeting or anything, the first episode they love each other. Even if you don't read it as romantic they DO love each other and it's just there. They're so in love, and it's so deep you can just feel it.
uhh comic idea about the enterprise doing time travel shenanigans where kirk and chekov want to witness the space race, and they of course know about laika and make plans to intercept her, which they do successfully and they bring her back with them and she becomes the official enterprise dog (she takes to kirk immediately ofc and sits by his feet until he gets her her own chair, spock is initially wary but becomes very attached to her, chekov speaks russian to her and is the only one who can teach her tricks, she follows bones around whenever he's on the bridge, etc)

I like who mourns for Adonais bc we get to see Uhura doing like science work. We see that she also has a technical knowlage. Her place on the bridge crew is because she, of everyone on the ship, understands not only the person to person/ship to ship/ ect knowledge of communication.
