Courtney prompted: "wow ok you should write about chris going to darrens show and they aren't //together// but they used to be and chris goes back stage and things happen ;_____;"
Warnings: Frottage, handjobs, a little angst.
Darren hadn’t even known that Chris was planning on coming to his show that night. He had wanted him to, of course; he always wanted Chris around but he understood that things were difficult between them. They both still ached from their break up which made any conversations they’d had since stilted and awkward and Chris was seeing someone else now, so it didn’t make sense for him to want to come. That was why it had been such a shock to Darren when he looked out into the audience and found Chris watching him with intense eyes. It had taken everything in him to keep singing and not let his hammering heart get the better of him.
Near the end of his set he’d lost sight of Chris and had just assumed that he had left early so that they wouldn’t have to interact after the show. So, the last thing Darren expected was to walk into his dressing room to find a nervous looking Chris sitting stiffly on the couch.
“Chris,” Darren said softly, he could barely hear himself over his heavy heartbeat that was thumping in his ears.
Chris stood up quickly when Darren entered the room and blurted, “Your assistant let me in, if you want me to go I will.”
Darren laughed at the absurdity of what Chris had said. How could he think that Darren would ever want him to leave?
He hesitated for a moment, fumbling over how to express that without being inappropriate before replying, “It’s fine, Chris; you’re always welcome.”
Chris’ mouth gaped slightly at Darren’s response and it was clear that he knew Darren hadn’t meant he was welcome only in his dressing room. Chris understood the unspoken ‘in my home, by my side, in my life.’ For a fleeting moment Darren thought Chris was going to comment on it, he didn’t though and Darren couldn’t deny that he was disappointed.
“I just wanted to come by and congratulate you,” Chris explained quietly. “I’m proud of you; you were really great out there.”
“You really think so?” Darren asked, his eyes wide and hopeful. Even though months had passed since their break up, and countless people had praised Darren for his show, Chris’ opinion was still the only one that really mattered to him.
A small smile pulled at the corner of Chris’ lips as he answered simply, “Yeah, I really think so.”
Without thinking of anything except the burst of true happiness that was blooming in his chest for the first time in months, Darren pulled Chris into a tight hug.
“Thanks, Chris,” he murmured into the younger man’s shoulder.
Chris tensed for a moment before tentatively wrapping his around Darren’s sweaty torso.
The scent of Chris was overwhelming to Darren; this was the closest they had been since their split and Darren had missed burying his face in the crook of Chris’ neck and just breathing him in more than anything.
He pulled back slightly but kept one hand curled in the front of Chris’ shirt, not wanting to let him go completely yet.
“I’ve missed you,” he confessed in a rush.
Chris’ eyes were wide and panicked and Darren’s chest ached as he watched them become wet with tears.
“I didn’t think you would come tonight,” Darren continued. “I thought-“
Darren was cut off by Chris speaking, his voice strained with pent up emotion.
“Of course I came.”
He curled one warm hand around Darren’s that was still gripping his shirt as he continued to speak.
“Just because we’re not together anymore, it doesn’t mean that I don’t- I mean, I still… Darren,” Chris finished with a whine, unable to voice his feelings.
“I know,” Darren responded, his voice low as he cupped Chris’ jaw with his other hand. “Me too.”
And then Chris’ lips were on Darren’s and everything was right again, everything felt back to normal. They moved together, never breaking their kiss until the back of Chris’ knees hit the couch. He pulled Darren’s shirt up over his head and dropped it to the floor before attaching his lips to the sensitive skin of Darren’s jaw, drawing little gasps and whines from him. Darren unbuttoned Chris’ shirt while the younger man focussed on nipping and sucking on Darren’s jaw until they were both shirtless and panting.
Darren pushed Chris down onto the couch before moving to straddle him. He ground his hips down against Chris’ as he kissed wetly over his collarbone, eliciting a long moan from him.
“I shouldn’t be doing this,” Chris gasped and tried to sit up. “I’m seeing someone; this isn’t fair to either of you.”
“Do you love him?” Darren asked, looking Chris straight in the eye. “Like real, honest to God love. Do you feel that for him?”
“No,” Chris answered truthfully and without hesitation. He placed his palm over Darren’s heart, shook his head and murmured, “Not like this.”
Darren kissed Chris’ lips sloppily before pulling back to tell him firmly, “Then I don’t care.”
Darren’s hands hovered over the button on Chris’ jeans and asked, “Can I?”
Chris nodded and Darren wasted no time in unzipping Chris’ jeans and climbing off the couch to tug them down his legs. He quickly kicked off his own jeans and got back on top of Chris.
He rocked his hips down against Chris’ and groaned at the feel of their erections rubbing together.
They continued rutting against each other until they were both sweaty and panting and desperate for more. Chris pulled down Darren’s underwear just enough to free his straining erection before doing the same to himself.
Chris spat into his palm and curled his hand around his and Darren’s cocks causing them both to moan at the feel of their bare erections sliding against each other. They kissed desperately, a frantic slide of lips and tongue and thrust into Chris’ hand until they both came, their cries swallowed up by the kiss.
Darren grabbed his top that was lying beside the couch and cleaned them both up before lowering himself down so that he could rest his head on Chris’ chest. He smiled into the warm skin of Chris’ chest when he felt the unmistakable pressure of a kiss against his hair as Chris wrapped his arms around his back.
For the first time in months, Darren felt content because even though the circumstances were far from perfect, he was back in Chris’ arms. And in that moment that was more than enough.
