Who: Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan. Freedom Fighter. Democracy's Savior. Bharat Ratna.
Why He Matters:
➤ Fought for Independence. He was a key leader in the Quit India Movement against the British.
➤ Fought for Democracy's Soul. Decades later, when democracy was suspended during the 1975 Emergency, he led the peaceful "Total Revolution" movement.
➤ His Weapon: People Power. He united students, activists, and ordinary citizens against authoritarian rule.
➤ The Result: His movement was pivotal in toppling an authoritarian regime and restoring Indian democracy in 1977.
