Ahh, Diavolo, you have come back! In honor of your glorious return I present to you an item I saw that reminded me of your Royal Thiccness Highness.

“Well, I wouldn’t say I’ve returned--I never quite left, I was simply occu--pied.”
The energy change that just happened despite that his expression stayed the same may be tangible even for someone with no magical awareness. One of his guards is making a significant effort not to snicker.
Diavolo is very good at reading people and being aware of the intentions of others except for certain angels apparently. So he’s very much aware that you’re doing this very much on purpose.
However there are people around--namely his staff but still people are watching. And so he takes the pickle with a smile, examining it. He’s never seen a pickle this size before. Why do humans make things like this? Atrocious. Appalling. He hates this. Just leave the poor cucumbers alone. Why are you punishing them this way?
Damn his powerful senses. It’s practically vacuum sealed and he can still smell the damned thing.
But he can’t just take it and come off as rude or unbefitting of his position. It’s not like it’s on a plate alongside the rest of his meal at a restaurant. He just has to ask that it be taken to the kitchens and someone else can deal with it. Someone else can eat it! Anyone but him is fine! But he has to acknowledge it anyway.
“Ah! Thank you for the gift!” He doesn’t sound as enthused, but he still sounds plenty happy. Even though literally everybody on staff who’s been here at least a year knows this man does not like pickles. Be strong, future Demon King. “It reminds you of me, you say? I’m not sure I agree--I’m certainly not as sour or salty as a pickle. (The kids say that for people, right? ‘Salty’?)
“Unless this is an innuendo?” A playful laugh through a closed-mouth smile. He takes offense to any part of his person being considered pickle-like. He holds it, as if grateful. “I’m afraid I’ll have to save it for another time as Barbatos doesn’t particularly like me to have too many snacks between meals. But the thought--and the welcome back--is appreciated!”
If this is how he’s welcomed back he’ll simply have to keep up with being here--
