And it's a shame. Always a shame when Shane Hollander looks away. He is stingy with his glances; his eyes seek surface elsewhere almost all of the time. Then, when he looks at you—really looks at you—you can be sure he means it. You can be sure every part of him wants to see you, and being seen by him—it's a physical sensation that rolls through you like a tidal wave. Ilya misses it every time it retreats.
Well this is the best paragraph I've ever read in my life. @to-theverge really understands how to write Shane's specific flavor of Autism (which is also my specific flavor of Autism, so I know what I'm talking about here). I especially love how Ilya perceives Shane's Autism in her writing. I think I'm having an existential crisis because is this how people perceive me?? Is this how my very Ilya-coded wife feels? Anyway, moon chasers is seriously everything to me, and I'm so grateful that chapter 4 is out tonight. GO READ IT!!!
