AU!

Hector actually has a sole survivor Fallout 4 verse.  It’s constantly being tweaked (like I think I”m going to rip the canon beginning of dead wife + kidnapped kid out, so he’s a…canon divergent of a canon canon divergent), but it exists, and I need to use it more.  But the basic rundown is that he’s pretty much what you’d expect from Hector as the sole survivor:  He’s a split from the immortal verse, Railroad-aligned though he absolutely did run Nuka World for a while as Overboss (and was a damned good one) until he realized they’d never be brought to heel and did what a good sole survivor does and decimated them.  You know, if you can’t control them, don’t let them fuck up the hard work you put into the Commonwealth.  Destroyed the Institute and the Brotherhood of Steel (and totally took Arthur’s battlecoat - you better believe this asshole paused long enough to pull it off of poor Arthur’s still-warm corpse).  Big on weapon mods.  Tends to favor small guns and the occasional shotgun.  Is also always with a pair of revolutionary swords, because he hasn’t gotten rusty and it feels good to use a blade in earnest again.  Banged Magnolia.  If there was something shifty and underhanded to do in the Commonwealth, he did it.  Favored companions were Cait, Piper, Deacon, Nick, and MacCready. Oh, and Old Longfellow.  Romanced no one (at least in game, but if anyone’s willing…).  Liked Gage.  Hated to have to kill him.  Killed him anyway.  And took great pleasure in breaking the Operators, because fuck those assholes.

That’s the rundown.  He likes Cait because they have a similar attitude and she’s the feisty sister-type for him.  Piper is nosy, and she’s a goody-goody, but she’s cute and spunky and has a steel spine.  You can always trust Deacon is lying, and he treats him a lot like he would Jack.  Nick is a surprise because Nick is good with a capital Good, but Nick also genuinely doesn’t want anything from him and he grows on him.  And MacCready is a little shit, but he makes Hector laugh because he’s a little shit, and I can promise you he implemented a MacCready only swear jar and profited.  Old Longfellow is his kind of dude to hang around, anyway, because while Hector’s face in this verse is a lie, they’re both just old men who’ve seen and done too much.

He has a pet albino deathclaw named Smiley, because a) if anyone could tame a deathclaw, it’s Hector, and b) she’s got a mouth full of teeth and pirates are a rather unimaginative lot when it comes to naming things.  She’s very well-behaved, but makes people nervous, especially when Hector goes sticking his hands in her mouth to take things away from her she’s not supposed to have.  Dogmeat is a given in this verse, because Hector was in love from minute one and literally was never without him in game.  Far Harbor, even with the fog, is his favorite place in the Commonwealth, and he spent a lot of time getting one of the small schooners off the shore of Longfellow’s island seaworthy again, because it’s small and light and can mostly be operated by a crew of one and even knowing what probably hides under the water it feels good to be on the sea again.  All in all, he’s not the best of sole survivors - he’s not goody-goody and is definitely looking out for number one - but he’s by far not the worst, and morally has grown a little bit from his canon and immortal selves.

❀ What has made you completely lose your chill?A couple of different things, honestly, but I’ll stick to just one for this, so.  You know what fucking pisses me off?  And I mean really pisses me off.  Gaslighting and manipulation tactics, and they are all the fuck over the rpc.  That post about abuses that goes around once in a while?  You’re damn right I’ve run into people like that.  People who lie, and throw fits, and in general behave like manipulative assholes to get what they want, be it a thread, a ship, or to try to pull you away from people you are obviously friends with.  It’s not fine.  I won’t be guilted into shit I didn’t want to do in the first place.  And I’m not going to tolerate it, either.  If someone tells you no when you suggest something, assume it means fucking no, not “try to convince me”.  Secondarily, respect people’s boundaries.  If they say thing x makes them uncomfortable, then it makes them uncomfortable and you don’t get to decide anything about it for them.

Really, I just hate the abusive, manipulative tactics I’ve seen fairly commonly in the rpc, and that shit will turn my asshole dial all the way to 11.

✿ What do you think about public call out posts?I’ve never made one, I’ve never participated in one.     But in the cases of where talking and blocking has failed?  And someone is a clear threat?  As in pushing for things continually after being told no, running over people’s boundaries, being in general abusive and dangerous to someone?  (Y’all know what I”m talking about.)  They serve a purpose.  I’ve seen a few where someone’s jumped the gun about something looking for brownie points, but I’ve seen more that call attention to real predators in the rpc.  I hold them about on par with the way I did wankgate on dw.  For the most part they’re not worth it, but sometimes they get shit right.  If that makes sense.  To be used sparingly in dire need, in other words.

✂ A fandom that you feel isn’t open and accepting?Honestly, I’ve been lucky in respects to that?   Outside of PotC, my main fandoms are Elder Scrolls and Fallout, and both of those have let me play in those sandboxes like I want to, so I appreciate that.  But I feel like there are pockets in every fandom that are kind of assholish.  That are going to be dickish for no reason.  But as a whole, just the general ignoring or outright villainization of female characters?  That’s crossfandom, though, but I would say if you don’t play a dick-owner, you get shat on, and that’s more than kinda shitty.

          a slight smile cross his lips, barely perceptible but there and lingering. he was bit like a bad penny, huh? but he was equally surprised to see her show up so often at conflict, and he rubs the back of his neck as he motions towards her curiously. “what about? how old are you, anyway?” he accuses. not that he’s judgmental. between Tifa and Yuffie, he was hardly about to say women couldn’t hold their ground. she just looked a little young.

          caged beneath the fallen debris from the fight, Cloud was certainly not in an ideal predicament to say the least. he’d nearly gotten out, but his ankle got pinned and it was nearly impossible to pick up the weight from his angle. at the words, impossibly blue eyes seek out the source before exhaling audibly through the nose in a very ‘you-don’t-say tone’ of breath.

               “hmm, grand observation. you mind giving me a hand out?” he snarks back, resting for a moment before he tries again. this is not exactly easy on his pride, you know.
