‘Je ziet er zo lief uit als je bloost,’ zegt Warner tegen me. ‘Maar ik zag toch echt liever dat je je genegenheid niet verspilde aan iemand die moet smeken om je liefde.’ Hij draait zijn hoofd naar Adam. ‘Wat sneu voor je. Dit moet vreselijk gênant voor je zijn.’
“You look so sweet when you blush,” Warner tells me. “But I really would rather you didn’t waste your affection on someone who has to beg for your love.” He turns his head to Adam. “I’m so sorry. This must be terribly embarrassing for you.
‘Dat ik naar de hel ga,’ zegt Warner, ‘betekent nog niet dat jij haar ooit zult verdienen.’
“Just because I go to hell,” Warner says, “doesn't mean you'll ever deserve her.”
