November 9
I felt like I was really busy at work but I think that’s because I had to rush to get most of my tasks done in the last hour & a half. This is because I spent almost the entirety of my day researching stars of the golden age of Hollywood. This started because I was listening to The Clash’s London Calling on the way to work & I realized I knew nothing about Montgomery Clift, who is the subject of The Right Profile. It turns out he actually had a very tragic story, he was a closeted bisexual actor in the 1950s & he was in a car accident that disfigured part of his face & he fell into a horrible pit of depression & slowly drank himself to death over the course of several years. This made me sad & I looked up other famous actors of the time period, but it turned out many of them led horribly depressing lives so this really didn’t make me feel any better.
I got home & I wasn’t sleepy? I think that was the first time that’s happened in memory, I normally always have to take a 10 minute nap when I get home. I walked the dogs since the rain had let up a little bit, it’s pretty much rained for a week straight. I wouldn’t really mind if it didn’t make my house get moldy & damp. Plus, it floods my yard, which is kind of irritating.
Played with most of the rats but I had to clean a zillion cages, so I did not have time for one group of boys & now they’re making me feel guilty by staring at me through the cage bars. I had already switched Bob the mouse over to fleece bedding because he is having eye problems in his old age & aspen & paper both seemed to bother him. I put Toulousemouse on fleece today, hopefully she will like it. She’s in good shape, but I figured it might be warmer for her now that she’s living alone. I feel bad for her, I never thought she’d outlive her cagemates by this long, but she’s too old to rehome & I don’t want any more girlmice for the foreseeable future. I thought about trying to put her in with my ASFs, but she has never liked being handled & I think intros would really stress her out at her age. Toulouse & Bob were born in late March 2013, so they’ve lived longer than a lot of rats! Bill is two & he still pees on everything & is stinky, so I’ll probably keep him on traditional bedding since it controls smell a little better.
