Summary of recent MEJIBRAY rumors and the Tour Final
shit has been going down since MEJIBRAY’s tour final. Take this with a grain of salt, this are rumors after all. Feel free to tell me your thoughts on all of this!♡
A lot of you have probably already heard this but Tanuki has been speculating that the hiatus is because of Tsuzuku hitting Meto. This is probably a fake rumor since Meto was the only one of the members congratulating Tsuzuku on his birthday. It seems as if the hiatus is because of their label (according to rumor number two) and not because of personal beef between the members. Thus, this first rumor is probably false.
Here’s apparently what happened during the tour final. Several fans (and people I know personally) that went to their tour final have reported the same events happening.
What happened during the concert:
The concert started with no intro. The members just stood on the stage quietly (no hyping up the crowd). Tsuzuku and Koichi were painted in black. They only played 14 songs on the tour final. They had always played 15 songs every live during the whole tour though. The tour final had no encore and no MCs. They haven’t done an encore for 6 months now. There has been no MC’s either, not even on their 6th anniversary. This is very unusual for a VK band and it’s definitely some sort of statement.
During the live at the tour final, Tsuzuku broke down. Crying on stage is something often seen in the VK genre, since it’s dramatic and adds a theatrical atmosphere. However, some fans claim that it seemed very serious and that Tsuzuku was having an actual nervous breakdown. (Some fans claim that he fainted but others deny it and say that he just fell down and had a breakdown). Koichi threw his bass away and ran towards Tsuzuku, while Meto and Mia still continued to play. Koichi was allegedly holding Tsuzuku’s hand trying to comfort him and to get him back up. Then, Koichi stepped in front of Tsuzuku and pointed his middle finger, some claim that he pointed towards the staff’s direction. Some fans say that they saw Meto crying during all of this. Mia was trying to keep things together and continued playing guitar. Koichi pointed his middle finger for a while until the curtains closed and the live ended. No encore.
While everyone agrees that this is what happened during the live, there are different rumors on why this happened.
Fans are speculating that the band is trying to tell us something that they’re not allowed to tell us. Tsuzuku’s and Koichi’s online presence (since the hiatus was announced) has been dead silent. No LINE blog updates, no Instagram pictures, nothing. Also, the bandmembers aren’t helping the label to promote the tour as much as VK bands usually do. There’s also a cloud of mystery surrounding the hiatus. All we’ve gotten is an official statement that came out of the blue but the members themselves haven’t talked about it. This makes it seem as if the hiatus was the labels decision. The members didn’t even talk about their upcoming hiatus on their 6th anniversary live. In fact they didn’t talk at all. No encores and no MCs on that live either. It’s literally radio silence surrounding it all. This radio silence is worrying, since it’s very unusual and shocking for a VK band to have this approach. Allegedly, in the recent Stuppy interview, Tsuzuku refused to be in the interview and Koichi answered with vague and short replies to the questions. This silence and lack of willing involvement with their label has had people speculating that the band is protesting against their label. Even their in-store events have become shorter. As I mentioned before, during the Tour final Koichi flipped off the staff while Tsuzuku was unable to sing because of a mental breakdown in the middle of the concert. They ended the concert very abruptly. Both Koichi and Tsuzuku allegedly came on stage painted in black, maybe as some statement.
To sum it up, the silence/lack of encores/lack of MCs/the Tour final/short in-stores/lack of promotion from the members, all point at one thing. This all might be some kind of statement and a protest against their label/management. At least/especially from Tsuzuku and Koichi.
This hiatus might just be because of the members being burnt out since they’ve been working non stop. The whole drama surrounding the tour, silence, unwillingness to be interviewed and Tsuzuku breaking down might just be a typical VK way to be dramatic about the hiatus. It has been announced that the tour final will have a DVD for the high price of 6000 yen. 6000 yen for a concert with 14 songs is a lot. More fans might be willing to buy it, so they can confirm the rumors about Koichi flipping the staff off etc. (although if theory 1 is true they will probably edit that part out). Thus, this drama has helped them increase sales.
To sum it up, this might be a dramatic VK way for the band to sell more DVDs and concert tickets. Fans get worried about the hiatus and the silence makes them buy anything surrounding the rumors basically.
We still have Koichi’s birthday live left, so let’s see how that turns out!
