What will happened? If @taylorswift has had to postpone their Lover Fest shows indefinitely, what will happen to the tours of all the artists? Can they be done virtually or will the industry have to find another way to get back to doing shows so that artists can fulfill the rest of their contracts that include touring?
Hey my #MusicAnon friend, do you have any idea about it?//
Music anon: What I’ve been seeing artists do is rent out venues and put on a full production show that’s filmed so fans can pay to watch the live stream and that’s been a source of income in place of touring. I believe that the music industry would love to go back to touring because of all the income it brings. Some of these bigger artists can get away with not touring for a bit during this time because they have other ways of making large income. Smaller artists on the other hand are struggling and really need these live streams to get by. With the live streams happening it proves that shows can be done virtually and in a sense it’s cheaper to do because they can still do a show full production for many people to pay to see without having to worry about so many other costs like hiring a large crew, travel expenses, etc… However, a live stream ticket for $10 each will not amount to the income that comes from live show tickets that are $50+ each general admission plus VIP being $100+ each. So I think the moment touring becomes some what possible even if it’s restricted, the industry will want these artists to get back to the touring as soon as possible. Someone like Taylor has lots of income coming in with all these album releases and other things she may do because she’s a big name so she can hold off touring for a while. Smaller artists though especially will have to get back to touring as soon as possible because they got contracts to fulfill and need money to support the labels and themselves. So many smaller artists I know have yet to cancel their tours, they just continue to postpone as far into the future as they possibly can because they cannot afford to cancel and refund all those tickets. If these restrictions go too far in the future I believe they’ll start making more of these bigger artists result to doing many live streams as well but time will tell.

Thank you very much for the answer my dear friend. The truth is that I see the topic of tourings and the pandemic as something very screwed up, but I do agree that the most unfortunate are the smallest artists. I was talking to a mutual about the subject and she told me that many Latin artists have not had problems in doing virtual concerts and they are doing well so I imagine that the artists of the American industry could do it that way too, even for a while. I hope that mass concerts can be returned to so that small artists can fulfill the contracts they have signed or, if this is not possible, that the industry finds a better way to make a temporary replacement to mass tours.
