✦ . a drunken call
you and gojo have been separated for a few weeks now. there was a big afterparty on some random weekend and you decided to stay in your apartment to study. you had a very important exam coming up, and you and your procrasination? yall would be laying side by side in bed scrolling on tiktok all next week if you were to go to that party.
sitting at your desk with books and notes scattered in front of you didn't stop you from grabbing your phone and opening up instagram obviously. you were too nosey for your own good. you tapped through various stories until your eyes caught sight of your very noticible white haired boyfriend. you tapped on the left side of your screen instantly to go back, eye fixated on the scene in front of you.
colorful lights were strobing at a sickening rate and the music was blazing loud. you heard the person behind the camera yelling to the lyrics of the song, spewing various "AYY!"s in the middle. infront of the camera was a bizzare mixture of a twerk circle/moshpit, and gojo was right in the center. a tanned chick with straightened brown hair was dancing right infront of your boyfriend. her whitened teeth were in a wide grin before she stuck her tounge out towards the camera, and the video ended abruptly, sliding to another persons story.
inside of your head you were SCREAMING, but you were in such shock, your face showed nothing. you stared at your screen like a idle character, and it stared right back at you, sliding through your mutuals stories. so many bad thoughts were running through your mind, but you did most sensible thing you could come up with. you sent him the video before replying with your last message:
"we're done."
he tried to explain to you in a fury of excuses the night it happened, but you didn't bother to listen. you didn't argue or put up a fight, which he hated, but it was better that way. you had responsibilities, and you handled him accordingly. of course he tried to speak to you at school every now and again any way he could, but you never gave him the satifaction of hearing any response from you but a simple hum in acknowledgement, as you only did so to get him to stop talking to you.
the both of you haven't interacted in forever, which is why you were so confused when you recieved a text from him during spring break reading--
"cna i call you?"
it was midnight, and you were getting ready for bed. why was gojo asking to call you, at midnight, during spring break?! the only thing you could come up with, considering the spelling mistake, was that he was drunk. he always used to call you if he couldn't be with you when he was drunk. he would go out with his boys, get dropped off at his apartment, and immediately call you to seek comfort.
part of you wanted to leave him on delivered, but another part of you felt concerned for his well being. the only times he felt the need to call you when he was drunk was if he couldn't get himself to sleep, or if he felt sick. you didn't want to leave him by himself if so, so you replied.
"are you drunk?"
he replied in a matter of seconds.
"need yuo."
you pinched the bridge of your nose before you typed back.
"gojo, is it something serious or not?"
"dont call me taht." is what he sent before a facetime call popped up on the top of your screen with his contact name reading "gojo".
your hand hovered over the icon before you eventually answered the phone.
when the call connected, gojo had the camera in front of his face. his white hair was a little disheveled and his cheeks were flushed with a coat of red. his dark blue blindfold was pushed to the top of his head. he was sat on the floor in the kitchen, head against the cabinets. he was definetely drunk
he didn't say a word, just stared at his phone expectantly. you had your phone pointed towards the ceiling, the only thing showing was the spinning ceiling fan and your eyes. you decided to break the silence.
"what do you need gojo" you say in a flat tone
"that's not my name." he responds. his words are slow and his voice sounds deep.
"but isn't it though?"
"not to--hic-- you." he says, a sort of pout forming on his face. "i can't see you."
"i'm aware." you reply matter-of-factly.
"let me see you." its goes quiet for a few seconds. "please?" he added softly.
he was really testing your resilience here. you thought only for a couple of seconds before you just gave in. you pointed your phone down to show your face and chest. you were wearing a cheetah print robe with a gold necklace that plastered your beautiful name in cursive lettering. you had eye masks on your face and your curly hair was wrapped nicely in a silk scarf. your skin looked so soft and glowy, and gojo just knew that you smelled like vanilla.
he was practically drooling looking at his screen, mouth slightly agape and his eyes low.
"gojo" you say sternly.
"satoru. it's satoru, say it."
"was that a command i just heard?" you say, eyebrow lifting.
"no! i just--" he tried to come up with some sort of excuse but fell short.
"yea yea, why are you on the floor?" you ask.
"i was hot--hic--and i got some water." he lifted his hand to show the bottle of water.
"well..." you start, "..are you okay?"
"yea i'm- i'm okay." he says, eyes still fixated on your pretty face.
"oh so i can hang up?" you say quick, face forming from deadpan to a cheeky smile at the thought.
"no! no don't hang up. i won't bother you i'll--i'll just sit here quietly i swear just--hic-- just don't hang up." he said frantically, lifting his head up.
you squeeze your eyes closed with an elongated sigh. "okay fine."
you and gojo were on the phone in silence for a good while. gojo migrated to his bedroom after awhile, coming out of his clothes and changing into a lose pair of shorts. you put some youtube video on the tv and finished up your nightly routine. anytime you would walk out of the camera he'll let out a sound of dissatisfaction at your absence. you'd just tell him to relax before he wouldn't be able to see you at all.
gojo had his phone propped up on one of his pillows. his eyes would never leave the screen. you'd look down at your phone occasionally seeing his eyes half shut, his cheek smushed against his folded muscular arm, broad shoulders on display. when he'd see you looking, his eyes would snap open as if he wasn't two seconds away from falling asleep. he called out to you, which you hummed in response.
"i miss you, you know that?"
you picked up your phone from your vanity, shutting off the light before replying.
"are you saying that because you're drunk, tired, or both?" you say unamused.
"im saying it 'cause i mean it." he said, voice gruff. "i miss you everyday. i hate that i can't talk to you, cant laugh with you, can't-"
"satoru."
his heart skips a few beats as he stares at you through the screen. it's the first time he's heard you say his name in weeks and it feels so surreal to hear it come from your mouth.
"you're not sober. you said you'd sit quietly, right?" you say. truly, you know that you two have been avoiding this talk for some time know, but now is not the best time for that. he's intoxicated, and he might not even remember this call when the morning comes.
"yeah.." he said softly.
you draw back your sheets, climbing into your full sized bed.
"good night satoru, go to sleep okay? i'll hang up once i know you're sleeping."
you never got a chance to disconnect the call that night. you both ended up falling to sleep together, the morning waiting for you both to confront the conversation that's been driving you two apart.
