Mystery Monday #14: Who is Anne Boonchuy?
Anne Boonchuy is a lot of things -- a 13 year old girl, a human, a person -- and today, we're going to talk about who else she is.
In the Reunion and All-In flashbacks, Anne is a passive follower who will just do what Sasha and Marcy want to do because it's easier.
Starting in Anne or Beast?, she is a monster that came from the woods.
Starting in Best Fronds, she is Sprig's best friend.
In Dating Season, Sprig introduces her to Ivy as "oddity from another world."
Gradually working its way towards a conclusion in Family Shrub, Anne is a member of the Plantar family.
Gradually building up starting in Lily Pad Thai, she is a friend to the rest of Wartwood, starting with Stumpy.
In the same episode, she becomes John Tapper and reenacts an episode of Bar Rescue.
Starting in Toad Tax, she is an accepted and respected member of the town of Wartwood. (Didn't take long for that second one)
In Snow Day, she is the Town Protector of Wartwood.
Starting in Combat Camp, she becomes a fighter.
In Anne of the Year, she is the Frog of the Year and is recognized by the town of Wartwood as having come a long way.
During Anne of the Year and Reunion, she is the de facto leader of Wartwood. Afterwards, she becomes the hero of Wartwood, as well as an enemy of Sasha and Grime.
On the road to (and in) Newtopia, Anne finds herself once again a freak (Wax Museum)
and a monster (Little Frogtown).
In Scavenger Hunt, Anne becomes a helper to the kid who lost her kill-a-pillar in a tree, and a friend to her, to Doris, and to Gertie.
In Return to Wartwood, we learn that Anne was the life of Wartwood, the one who kept it an interesting place to live.
When Marcy moves to Wartwood, Anne is the role model the residents hope she will turn into (New Wartwood).
In The Second Temple, Anne completes her journey towards becoming the heart Calamity Stone.
When Sasha is around, Anne jumps into the role of peacekeeper between her and the Plantars (The Third Temple and The Dinner).
In True Colors, she gains cool "Anne-ime" powers, and "Anne-drias" shows us what she could have become had she followed a different path.
In The New Normal, Anne goes back to being her parents' daughter, but this time she adds on roles as a responsible caretaker and a student of dimension hopping technology.
In Turning Point, Anne is the inspiration for Sasha to start the Wartwood Rebellion.
Later in the same episode and in Fight at the Museum and Anne-Sterminator, she develops into a better fighter.
In Mr. X, Hollywood Hop Pop, If You Give a Frog a Cookie, and Escape to Amphibia, Anne becomes a better protector while avoiding Mr. X and Dr. Frakes.
In "Comm-Anne-der" (Commander Anne), we learn that Anne was the fuel that kept Sasha and the Wartwood Rebellion going.
In the same episode, we learn that she is decidedly NOT a military commander.
From Newts in Tights thru The Three Armies, Anne was the driving force behind gathering troops to the rebellion's cause (as the social one)
and helping them get along, once again playing the role of peacekeeper / mediator. We even learn that she played this role before, when she got the track team and the band to get along by pointing out their need for lung control. (Speaking of which, no, Anne, that was not the only award you've ever gotten. You won Frog of the Year.)
And in the grand finale, Anne becomes the hero who singlehandedly saved two worlds in one day (or as Hop Pop put it, "the greatest kid who ever...")
I'll come out with more posts on this topic soon, so watch for those. But that's all for now. See you next week for another Mystery Monday!
