                    though it’s probably not going to serve the situation, shane can’t help the way the light in his eyes dims. “i don’t think it is.” but, then, it doesn’t really matter what he thinks, does it? his list of misdeeds is long, most of the time it seems like all that anyone can see of him. he doesn’t know if his intentions read the way that he means them to or if they’re overshadowed by the deeds themselves; they missed that developmental stage— the one where you’re supposed to learn the right way to help people. somewhere between agrestic and mexico, they missed it. 

                    it’s not his fault, how he turned out. he doesn’t mind who he is. when his mom looks at him like that, though, shane can feel the weight of the word, heavy on his chest. psycho. he doesn’t want to be that. not in her. eyes “tell me what you want me to do, and i’ll do it.” because, if he’s following orders, at least she can’t pretend she didn’t see it coming.
