OMG i love your theme. anywaaaays.. I am going to nyc literally in 3 days (friday) just wanted to ask what are places I must visit? xx
Thank you!! I spent hours trying to customize it lol
And idk it depends on what you like doing. This city is BIG so there a thousand things to try so isn’t one thing I can tell you that you must do. Locals don’t go to many of the must-see places because a lot of the time they’re crowded and touristy/pricy as fuck.
For example, if I’m every hungry I go to Queens because they have a wider range of choices from so many different countries but I doubt you’ll wanna spend a day in Queens.
Times Square is always a crowd favorite. The 9/11 memorial is beautiful, plus its in Wall St so its a really interesting environment because I the contrast between giant skyscrapers and old colonial buildings, such as Trinity Church. The Circle Line is awesome because it takes you around the island of Manhattan. I recommend people to take the Gray Line Double Decker Buss tours. They take you around Manhattan and show you the local spots as well as the touristy crap. You should really try to see the locals cus its a lot more interesting but don’t be offended if they don’t wanna talk to you cus were standoffish people. Go to Central Park and walk north, PAST 60th and enter residential New York and meet some people! And try to go to te other boroughs. Its bit dangerous, like some people thing and its a lot more fun. I live in Manhattan, across from Central Park and I spend a large percentage of my time in Brooklyn, NJ and Queens. There’s a lot of stuff to do and the people there are 1000x more interesting. So just don’t be afraid to explore…. But take a map cus the streets are easy to navigate in Manhattan but not so much in the other boroughs.
Oh bring a cardi cus its almost fall here so some days are chilly. And don’t let anyone charge you more than $1.50 for a Poland Springs water bottle. If you shop in touristy areas youre gonna get ripped off so walk a few blocks north or south for better deals. If your lost, ask for help. Ask 3 different people cus some people like to pretend they’re locals when they’re not. Don’t give homeless people money unless you’re certain that they’re not crack heads. Oh and take the subway or buss. A cab is pricy and no one takes cabs anyways. Also, a slice of pizza shouldn’t cost more than $2.50 and every slice in the city taste the same. Unless the chef can’t cook lol
If you go to queens try some Indian or Jamaican food! Oh and get like 5 maps cus Queens is a mother fucking labyrinth.
Oh and visit Central Park and don’t be afraid to just walk aimlessly down a path cus theres tons of cool discoveries there and every path leads to a street so you’ll never get lost if you just keep walking.
Also, if you like museums, visit MoMa (museum of modern art) on 5th Ave (aka museum mile). Fun fact about MoMa!! Half of the museum is built on Central Park, which is public property, so legally, they cannot charge a set price for admissions. You can get in by paying 1 penny. (I swear) the price they give you is a suggested admissions, aka donations they need to keep the museum going. So you can pay as little as $1 or as much as $1k and they let you in and give you the same treatment. The museum isn’t pricy but its good to know if you’re strapped on cash! Especially since the city can get a little expensive.
