not that anybody cares, but here's a list of everything i'm excited for from the game awards

Audio Mech: looks like a cool little gimmick game. with the addition of being able to stream songs direct to the game, i'm less excited to play for myself and more excited to see youtube videos of people putting in random songs (Rush E time)

Bradley the Badger: i was sold from the moment they put furry bait on screen (really, he's fucking adorable, can't wait to see this guy's penis) but also the game just looks really fun and refreshing. the kind of thing i could easily see myself 100% just for the joy of getting to exist in it's world for longer. Stupid Never Dies: suda 51 vibes, sunset overdrive vibes, i was sold from the jump on pure vibes tbh, the gameplay looks fun also! just mindless fun that would make me laugh!

Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve: i like ace combat a lot... i screamed.

Control: Resonant: i'll probably make a longer post about this game in specific, but let's just say i screamed, cried, howled, and ran around so hard that i had a headache for the rest of the night. if i had to pick only one game on this list, i'd be this

Coven of the Chicken Foot: the last grandma-rdian? looks adorable, fun, and i'd be deeply surprised if both of these two are alive and well by the end of the game.

Toxic Commando: you had me at john carpenter lets start there. anyway, i'm a sucker for 4 player co-op horde shooters. marketing itself as mindless stupid fun is a great move, and i'll be excited to tackle it with the gang

Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight: i love lego batman!

Ontos: I love the atmosphere, huge prey vibes on top of being a spiritual successor to soma. i won't be able to play, considering i have a tendency to entirely lock up and refuse to go further out of terror when playing horror games, but i'm looking forward to watching gameplay

Orbitals: OH MY GOD I FUCKING LOVE THE OVA STYLE OH MY GOD. there's so much fucking love in it, and if you told me this was a game adaptation of a real 1990's anime, I'd entirely fucking believe you.

Out of Words: another co-op game that i'm mainly interested in because of it's absolutely gorgeous art style. i love these two characters, i love this ponytail guy, even if the gameplay is mid (which i doubt) just like orbitals, i'm more excited just to get to exist in these worlds

Screamer: i like racing games! i almost got my dick sucked because we thought this game was need for speed (it happened again with the star wars pod racing trailer)

Saros: .... this game is in the same universe as returnal, right? don't tell me, i want to believe that it is.

Dark Horse Comics has announced John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando: Rise of the Sludge God, a prequel miniseries to the upcoming video game of the same name. Written by Michael Moreci with artwork by Alberto J. Albuquerque and letterer Nate Piekos, Rise of the Sludge God is set to begin in March 2024.

Toxic Commando is a really fun game, I'm enjoying it a lot. It brings to mind Left 4 Dead, sure, but I like it much more because it lacks L4D's constant urgency. L4D had some really neat environments, but taking time to explore them was pointedly discouraged. The objective was to sprint to the end, avoiding being grabbed along the way.

Toxic Commando is pleasantly different. The environments are BEAUTIFUL and taking your time to explore them at whatever pace you choose is rather important to finding stuff you'll need later. If you race to the key objectives and make a beeline for the final zone as quick as possible, you are in for a truly hellish experience.

You need to find those resources not just to afford upgrades, but to fortify your final fight. And holy damn.. I've never played a game with this many enemies on screen at once. It's difficult to describe how many zombies show up. Crowds upon crowds upon heaps upon mountains of people. You do need a fence or two, when the time comes.

Exploration isn't EASY though, is the thing. It isn't a peaceful errand-running before the "actual" fight, sometimes while exploring you can run into some serious shit. You gotta find those resources but you absolutely have to risk getting killed to do it. Exploration can be even more exciting and awful than the final fight if you don't stay on your toes.

I love exploring pretty places, is the bottom line, and TC is pretty much just L4D except you're allowed to look around and enjoy the place while also dreading and fearing the place.

He was right, the zombies "blow up real good". He said I would love this game, I trusted him, and he was correct.

Finally, and most importantly, the game lets me use my favorite baby as my primary weapon: the sawed-off double-barrel shotgun. Regardless of how much "better" or "deadlier" or "more efficient" other shit is, the double barrel is my dearest child and always will be.

You keep your fully automatic mass-murder machines to yourselves, you kids. I am committed to The Old Ways.

toxic commando just came out like last week, but if it somehow goes on sale (lol) I'm getting it. I've been interested in it since I first saw it at the game awards. it looks like so much fun man.
