Patton never actually accepts Janus. He only caves because he got backed into a corner. Janus managed to eloquently and intelligently break down his arguments with little to no effort. Which is why he tried shutting him up so much and not allow him to so much as get a word in. Patton knew if Janus was given a chance, he'd loose all of his. Patton finally snaps and partially reveals his true colors by getting violent and threatening the lives of uninvolved people to get the others to comply. He shows the real ugly side of himself to Thomas he fully intended to keep hidden forever. He admits defeat after harming Thomas, not out of remorse but upon the realization he's outted himself to Thomas about how he can really be if he doesn't get what he wants. Patton admits defeat because he has to. After a display like that, there is no way he can bounce back in that moment. Janus won this round and he knew it.

Thomas still believes he's good despite all the evidence to the contrary. Janus sees yet again that his warning of Patton being the only truly evil Side is being ignored but says nothing. Patton tugs at Thomas's heartstrings yet again and is forgiven or at least still trusted. He calls Janus by his proper name for good measure. Janus plays along but knows he's not sincere and is livid at what he accomplished that day. Patton sinks down, claiming to go check on Roman but really, he's waiting for Janus at The Crossroads as the episode ends.

Janus arrives. They lock eyes.

"You must feel real proud of yourself, huh, Deceit?"

Janus smirked confidently and chuckled, "Oh, I am.~ I have to say it was fun seeing you unravel like that. Difficult to manipulate others when you have a worthy foil to rip into you, isn't it, 'Morality'?~"

Patton scoffed, "You revealing your name was a surprise. I wouldn't get so confident if I were you. You're vunerable now and you know it. And this is far from over."

Janus toyed with his fingers, "Yes, even I surprised myself. But I'm not worried."

"There's no garuntee he'll fully embrace you."

"I'm aware."

Patton smirked, "He still loves and trusts me."

"I'm aware."

"Then why bother? So long as his attachment to me remains, you have no chance at winning, not really. Even if you're inserted into our 'family', I'll still be here.", Patton smiled, frowning when Janus chuckled again.

"Oh, Patton. I have nothing to fear from a coward.", Janus approached the smaller man, his black heeled boots clacking against the floor. , "Regardless of how Thomas views me, I know one thing for certain. I won't allow you to hurt him. So spit your false bravado all you want, Morality. So long as I remain, you will never get close enough. Remember that."

Janus's smile never left him as he exited The Crossroads and into the Dark Side. Leaving Patton silently furious and fully prepared to own up to the challenge.

We're Friends, Right?

In Which Logan is me and I vent about a friend who wasn't really a friend.

Patton smiles at him and Logan smiles back bitterly. He wished that they could just sit and talk for once. He wished they could do something that he wanted. That Patton didn't constantly, silently complain that his idea of fun wasn't fun.

He was uncomfortable with what Patton talked about in front of his parents. Unlike Patton, Logan's parents were sheltering and didn't like YouTube or the things he did. Patton tried to talk about it, and his mother called it weird.

Patton would ignore that Logan looked dead on the inside and outside in favor of making sure Logan knew just how much worse off Patton was than Logan.

That Logan had no right to be upset about his work stressing him out when Patton's parents were restrictive and his brothers were rude.

That Logan had no right to complain about his siblings bullying him when the boy that hated Patton confronted him at lunch again, and Patton just needed someone to rant to.

Logan felt uncomfortable in his skin around Patton, who made everything about him and never really listened to Logan. At least being around Patton's ex Virgil wasn't like walking on eggshells, that he genuinely shared Logan's interests and wasn't just tolerating or complaining about them or adding on ideas and feedback that Logan had never asked for.

He felt hot when he sat next to him in the one class they shared, like his head was full of static and he could never get any work done. He was always afraid that Patton was watching him, judging him, only trusting him to be Patton's loyal yes-man when he needed him to be.

He didn't want to see him again, and after they were separated that year in school he felt a breath of fresh air flow through his lungs as he found himself squeezed into a new circle of friends, friends that he didn't have to stay quiet around, friends that he could sit with at the lunch table and not feel like he was on the outside.

They weren't perfect of course, he was occasionally talked over and ignored, but at least they had done more for him than he felt anyone else had. He formed connections with people he knew before but had never gotten to know, and felt like he could actually survive, if the rest of school was the same way.

(@virgilismyanxiety yeah I kinda spilled some beans at that sleepover and I talked about one of my older friends and yeah now this happened and these are the beans)

Patton is that suburban parent that asks someone why they hate Jesus or hates their parents when they do anything outside of sexuality, gender roles, or society norms. Including his own children. Some random neighboor wears goth fashion? Constantly talks to them about how they have to stop "acting out" because they're breaking their parent's hearts or saying how he can "help" them "get better". Young woman wants to remain childfree and focus on herself? Patton would constantly lecture her about God's will and say she owes her parents grandchildren and she's being selfish. A neighbor is an atheist? Sooooo much passive agression and false rumors/gossip about them being spread. He'd probably make wild assumptions about them to their face, too.

Patton being jealous of Deceit's power, smarts, and natural charisma. Patton hating that Deceit can get anyone to fall for him without even trying, hating that he can't just take his anger out on him because he'd overpower him in a heartbeat, hates that he can get anyone to do anything, hates that he can somehow gain so many loyal friends with ease, hates that being the leader and doing it well is like breathing to him, hates his stupid stupid silver tongue. But most of all...he hates how humble he is about it. Sure, he's confident. Sure, he gives a sassy remark to anyone who tries to put him down. But he treats all of the things he's able to do as just another part of life. Doesn't talk about it, only answers questions but ultimately seems completely dettached from all of it. He praises their brothers for things that aren't even comparable to what he can do (including him), keeps his friends around even after they don't serve a purpose anymore, and seems to be oblivious to the countless individuals gaining crushes on him.

Basically Patton being that one sibling that can't stand the other's success and hates the fact they can still be a good person at the same time. Patton pretty much being a mean girl that overanalyzes everything, takes everything positive for someone else as an attack on him, spreading rumors that Deceit is "evil" and "manipulative" and "not to be trusted, don't let that handsome face and smooth words fool you", just all around salty with a sweet mask. Just someone that makes you go "relax, it ain't that deep" every time he freaks out for Deceit saying hi to him or he just so happens to get the last ice cream sandwich in the freezer.
