Domenica - painting dress numero due. This dress has a little story behind it...
JSK - Bodyline l529
underskirt - Bodyline l353
blouse - offbrand
belt - offbrand
jewelry - a mixture from various stores including H&M, Fisher, and Landmark
flowers - a mixture of ToxicKitty and Landmark
When I first saw this dress, released on the heels of D&G’s painting dress collection, I thought: wow that looks ugly.
There was no focal point. It’s like someone took several stock photos of cherubs and mashed them up in a blender. There’s loads of purple foggy areas, like oil paints after you’ve mixed up too much pigment and it turns to mud. And to cap it all, there was this totally random black bow floating up there like a mustache.
Go home Bodyline, you’re drunk.
And yet- after mentally filing it away as a Photoshop hack job - it wouldn’t go away. I kept thinking about it, and eventually I saw pictures online that made it look... not an abomination.
In fact it looked... nice?

So, the damn thing wouldn’t leave me alone. Years after I first saw it, and much waffling over whether I should/should not buy things on impulse: I did buy it. And the very first thing I did was snip that silly bow off, and put it together with this blouse.
Sometimes the coordinate practically puts itself together. To date, this was the easiest coordinate I’ve ever created. Sometimes it is very hard, especially when dealing with Sweet prints (more on that in an upcoming post) but other times it’s like those B-movies where the cursed object wants to be reunited with its body.
Now as for finding an occasion to wear this, that’s another story...
Domenica - the tale of Snow White’s evil stepmother.
After reading a great many banned, moste potente evile books (such as FSOG) the Queen found that the best way to be rid of her annoyingly beautiful daughter was to poison her with an apple, as they were exotic fruits that had to be imported from neighboring countries.
So she dipped an apple in poison and presented it to her, saying ‘my dear unwanted darling Snow White, you lack Vitamin D. This apple will put color in your cheeks and keep you looking young for as long as you live.’
And what happened next was...

Shots from my comm’s first photoshoot meet in 2018! The theme was loosely based around fairy tales to suit the setting, and for fun I decided to try more dramatic makeup than I’d done so far. While I did not intend to look evil, by consensus I ended up the villain of the shoot and it was a blast, haha.
More photos, including the rest of the comm’s coords, are on my blog post: Comm Meet: Antique Fairy Tales
Caelia - flowerbush Classic for the Philippine Gothic and Lolita Community’s 8th anniversary meet, Lace Up! The great thing about large meets in October is that 1) no one questions your purchases, and 2) there’s no such thing as ‘too much’.
JSK - Innocent World, ‘Palace Rose’
velveteen shirred blouse - offbrand
faux cape - striped blouse, offbrand (worn HERE)
underskirt - Bodyline l353
waist ties - Inori, ‘Maiden of Versailles’
two pairs of hose - both offbrand
mini hat - Foxcherry
flowers on the head - apostrophe
flowers on the waist - ToxicKitty
flowers on the shoulders - load of AliExpress flowers and greenery from Landmark
Kirara - rainy day coordinate... from several months ago. Oy vey. Since joining my comm’s insta-engagement activities, I’ve had to comb my folders for fresh content. Mostly those which were too simple to post at the time ┐( ̄ヮ ̄)┌
JSK - Angelic Pretty Lace Heart Pocket; for someone who barely wears Sweet, I do seem to own several pieces from it, eh
blouse (worn over the JSK) - offbrand
printed scarf - offbrand
socks - SM Kids
RHS - offbrand
flowers - ToxicKitty
bag - Belladonna
Fun fact: I was wearing these same socks when I went shopping recently in the Kids’ section at SM. I asked the saleslady if she had lace-topped socks, and she said yes; she then led me a few stalls over and then handed me socks... for newborns.
Lucia - Slytherin coordinate, at last. This actually is my House, but I don’t have any green in my wardrobe; or at least I didn’t until now.
That wig needs maintenance, but I am happy with the look overall. This is the light-green colorway, and even though the fabric is quite thin, in the right light the colors just glow. I can’t wait to wear it!
skirt - high-waist SK from Souffle’s Song, ‘Clock Fairy’ in light green
Momoze *- Wa for our August comm meet at Le Petit Souffle. I got the Japanese high tea set; the savoury treats were so good, and the bread was so filling I ended up sharing with most of the table!
This coordinate is a refinement of several WIPs; AKARI and AKARUI. Same basic pieces, with some accessory swapping. Comfort was key for travel coords, but since this was a meet I could wear whatever.
Meet photos are on my blog - Lolita Memoires vol. II
JSK - Angelic Pretty
haori - Sam Khloey
underskirt - Bodyline l353
blouse - Chloé
bear’s bonnet
flowers - ToxicKitty and apostrophe (+flower crown)
tights - offbrand
boots - Bodyline s506
Photos by Den Takahara and Jose Marco Astilla.
*P.S. RIP Momoze Hui Guo Ruo. Another Hiatus x Hiatus has come, but it’s worth the wait.
Alarice - dark classic with SouffleSong’s ‘Rococo Story’, which is not rococo at all. First we had the ‘Time Godness’ MUCHA print, then the BYZANTIUM print which was not byzantine! Who’s naming these things?!
I’ve written a blog post about my coordination process, and how I ended up with that particular top, 8 blouses later -> The One Tue Blouse: Rococo Story.
I really love the colors and tiny details; it needs a thorough review! However, that will probably have to wait until next week, so I can track down the sources of the artwork in the print, and discuss construction in depth.
JSK - SouffleSong ‘Rococo Story’, via DevilInspired.
blouse - offbrand, from my Dolly Kei wardrobe
necklaces (x2), lace tights - offbrand
hat - Foxcherry (with the SouffleSong overskirt as a veil)
flowers (hat, shoes) - ToxicKitty
shoes - Gucci
I’d been eyeing this release for a while (along with Clock Fairy; I tend to meditate over purchases) and I was super happy with it. Color, fit, and comfort were great, and it looks like it’ll go very well with lots of things in my wardrobe.
Overall DevilInspired was pleasant to deal with for Taobao items. Their mark-ups are fair, they kept me up to date on the status of the item, their English is quite good, and they shipped via FedEx instead of EMS at my request (struggles with PHL EMS are a common thing sadly). They’re also offering discount codes: san for 11% off.
Leonora - representing Gryffindor for our comm’s July meet. Happy Birthday, Harry! Thank you for bringing magic to the lives of children around the world.
