are you at all familiar with TPAF (Trans Person Assigned Female) language?
Yeah, some folks were talking about it the other day, which was the first time I had heard of it. I read a tweet thread by somebody who claimed to be its coiner, or one of its coiners, or something.
My assessment is that it presents itself as a solution to a problem while not fundamentally challenging any of the things that made it a problem in the first place. The reason why AGAB terminology sucks is because it relies upon an extremely fundamentalist understanding of gender, sex, sociality, and "material circumstance." TPAG also relies upon all those same points of fundamentalism. They are equally lackluster and non-intersectional takes that equally fail to account for like any of my real lived experience as a boring person.
I am agnostic about people who want to nitpick and rebrand things to death. I am so extremely indifferent to which version any given individual feels like using. Words can be words all day long; I care more about the meaning than the semantics. And this particular discourse is very very very semantic, indeed.
The minimalist approach to electro-pop that Love Inks had in their music has not been abandoned in their latest venture, T.P.A.G. This time, though, they replaced synths with sliding guitars and the result is bronze-tinged warmth. Their latest EP is available for streaming and on cassette on Bandcamp.
