because like scotty may be eccentric but he's also a veritable fortress of professionalism and ingenuity and spock likes that and scotty also usually picks right up on what spock is laying down and it's just a beautiful set up and excuse me i have to walk away

WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME

but yes yes yes their personalities could not be anymore different but scotty never questions spock’s super logical command decisions (okay maybe except for that one time kirk was in serious danger but that’s to be expected lbr) because he has a job to do and that includes listening to his commanding officer and carrying out orders for the good of the ship and he knows that spock is trying his best and spock of course notices that scotty is always. doing. his. job. and not being borderline insubordinate lIKE SOME OTHER PEOPLE OF THE CREW AHEM and not only respects that but appreciates it

to the point where spock can even call him scott without the perfunctory “mr.” attached and that’s a big deal ok i’m not okay
