The first character sketches for True Reset!
.....As you can tell, I really didn’t know how to draw anybody at first X3
When I first wrote Papyrus, he was the exact same as in game, just a couple years older a tiny bit more sad. Since the story takes place after a semi-finished Geno run, he was going to be a big survivalist; scrounging for the food, using he dwindling supplies to his full advantage, making cool new clothes (because AU!! That was my reasoning XD). There was also a plan to put in extra fallen children OCs for him to take care of and interact with, a plan which I quickly chucked. But of these three folks, he had the least amount of development and ideas (my constant regret ;;n;; I’m makin up for that now with all my headcanoning X3)
Sans started out as being the “anger and angst bean” of the story. One thought was that, even though he’s a skeleton, he’d have lost weight... somehow.... I actually didn’t have a whole lot in terms of what he’d be doing other than being the Tsundere who’d eventually go into “MEGA protective mode!!” As much as I like angst and angery beans, a change was necessary X3 However, I AM keeping an element of alcoholism for him- methinks that was a good touch.
Frisk was going to have left the Underground and come back at the beginning of the story as a 30 year old mage with terminal cancer. I kid you not. She was going to come back to the Underground, after a dream where Flowey talks to her, and somehow fix the problem she had left behind. She was also going to smoke. And have a healthy jog every morning. That was the first idea.
The second idea was that she’d still have powers, but she’d have been still stuck in the Underground. That was a much better basis for the character. :3
Sans and Frisk both went through a faze of looking really childlike, as in, they looked much younger than what I was intending (especially with how long the gap between the events of Undertale and True Reset ended up being), so that’s also changed.
So! I hope this was interesting! Haha,
