114. “No more dogs. How hard it it to understand?” (Smornby)
“Ross I’m home?” Smith trailed off in shock as he walked through the door greeted by the site of his boyfriend on the couch with 2 dogs. “What’s this?”
“First of all, it’s who’s this. Second of all, this is Hubert,” Ross said, gesturing to the Saint Bernard on his left before turning to the Great Dane on his right, “and this is Bernard.”
Smith sighed, rubbing his temples. “Why?”
“Well you see, calling the Saint Bernard, Bernard? Too predictable so I ca-”
“No you twat,” Smith cut Ross off, “I meant, why do you have two dogs?”
His boyfriend sat with sorrowful eyes. “I passed the shelter and heard their barking, I just couldn’t leave them all alone and knowing it would be a cold night with no one there for them.”
Rolling his eyes, Smith shrugged his jacket off and dropped the shopping bags he was holding by the door. He kicked off his shoes and flopped down on the couch next to Ross and the two dogs who soon resettled to sit across the two mens’ laps.
“Alright but no more dogs, ok? We’ll just about manage two,” Smith spoke softly to Ross before putting his arm around him and pulling him closer.
“Ok.” Ross agreed, nuzzling up to his boyfriend and two new dogs.
The next day, Smith came home at a reasonable time, expecting Ross not to be home yet. When he pushed open the door he was greeted by the sight of Ross chasing another dog around their apartment.
“I thought we said no more dogs?” Smith said, a little annoyed.
“Sorry, I just saw him all alone, I couldn’t leave him,” Ross shrugged, trying to gain sympathy from his boyfriend.
