Trabia Garden Secrets
MINOR FFVIII SPOILERS!
The scenes you might have missed in Trabia Garden:
1. Make sure to explore the whole location before going to the basketball court. You can witness some optional scenes this way, with Selphie talking to her friend, speaking about her dream at the cemetery and comforting some children. If you interact with the large computer screen, Selphie’s personal information will be displayed. Some players reported that her profile appeared only briefly before the computer stopped working, while other players got a scene in which Selphie runs to the computer and turns it off herself. I really don’t know what this depends on.
(...anyway, I think that Selphie>selfie.......I remember being very disappointed when I found out that people around me were not talking about her....I thought they knew the game when I first heard the expression.....oh well :) )
2. Irvine always throws a ball in the basketball court. However, depending on the number of battles won in total, the result is different:
less than 200 wins - the ball will miss the basket
200-249 wins - the ball passes through the basket
250 and more wins - the ball turns in the hoop before getting through the basket

Trabia.
Traaaabia. TRAH-bee-uh? TRAY-bee-uh? Trab-EE-uh? Trab-EYE-uh?
This weekend in Trabia, the town that has documentation of being the first place to have made pasta (more than a century before Marco Polo returned from China), citizens celebrated the 26th Edition of Trabia in Sagra. Experience Sicily's Evelina Buttitta was there today with her family to enjoy this Sicilian cart on exhibition as well as tastings of pasta, olive oil, and the loquat fruit, folk music and dance groups, and the marionette theater. I had two headcanons but I can only remember one so here goes
Balamb Garden, if not Trabia and Galbadia as well, is run off a nuclear reactor. No one is permitted to use the water in the Quad nor the central area even though the usable levels are completely safe - for everyone’s protection it is expressly forbidden and you can very likely get expelled/court-martialled for swimming in them.
Little is publicly known about how each of the Gardens function, what supplies their energy, and so it’s a close-guarded secret as to how to actually get to the reactor itself in B-Garden. Only certain high-ranking faculty know how to access it; these are also the individuals that perform maintenance and repairs on it.
Trabia didn’t much communicate it’s building specs to the world, but one can safely assume that either its reactor was buried immensely deep underground or it doesn’t use nuclear power considering the missile strike on the base.
Galbadia keeps such things highly classified, keeping its secrets tightly hidden, and so, with its overall design, one cannot immediately tell how it is powered other than by electric generators.
Sooo I made a Discord channel for FF8!
I titled it Gysahl Garden because I couldn’t think of anything witty :|

Do you say Gal-bad-ia or Gal-bade-ia?
How about Ba-lamb or Bal-omb/Ba-lohm?
Tray-bia or Trah-bia?
Or even neither! Tags or reblog chatter’s fine :D
(So I can tag this right, I used to say the first, then I’ve just started saying the second on Galbadia, and I’ve always said the first on Balamb. I’ve said both with Trabia.)
