Tracey Denim, Bar Italia (2023)

No doubt much of the familiarity of Tracey Denim is savvy; in how it lifts melodies from elsewhere and, in its simplistic lyrics, finds itself immediately hummable, recognisable. But there’s also something in Bar Italia’s aesthetic, in this richer-than-it-seems indie rock that neither slacks nor exerts, that is obviously technical and well-made. Add lushness to comfort and one, naturally, finds homeliness and endearment.
