"Y/N, I'm curious, do you... like anyone?" His words were a shock to you, and you scrambled to find a good response. "You don't have to answer if you want."

"No, it's like, I do but I don't? I'm not sure," You finally responded, "Why do you ask?"

"I told you I'm just curious, idiot!" He kicked your shin under the table.

You kicked him back. "Yeah right. Are you sure you don't have a crush on me or something?" It took you a moment and a very red Akito to realize what just escaped your mouth. oh. oh. That made sense. "Oh my gosh, Akito, I-"

"You what?" Akito was now covering his face.

"Does that mean you like me?" You took a sip of the drink you ordered. He nodded meekly.

"I guess, I sorta did when we were younger too. I can't believe I'm confessing to you right now, especially when we just met," He confesses.

"I- I really like you too, Akito. I don't know if it's in the romantic way or not yet, but, I'm willing to give it a try," You tell him.

"Yeah but, what about when you leave to go on tour? Do you actually want to go long distance?"

Long distance. Yikes. "I'd try it. I just met up with you again, Akito. I think we could make this work." You rest your hand on his.

"Yeah," He lets his fingers intertwine wit yours, "We could."

"Y/N?" The creak of a door and Sayaka's honeyed voice made you spin around and squeeze Sayaka as tightly as you could. "Y/N... what's wrong? What happened between you and that guy?"

Sayaka brought you inside and wiped your tears. The rest of the group rushed over to see you, which made you start crying again.

"I'm going to beat Shinonome's ass if he did anything bad to you," Rei threatened.

"It's not that," You sniffled, "It's the opposite. He- He was so nice and stuff, and I finally got to see him again, but now he's gone. He even confessed to me!

"Y/N... what did you do in response?" Mika asked.

"I told him I liked him back and we kissed." You felt embarrassed sharing the memory to your group mates, but thinking about it made you feel so warm inside.

The three girls gasped, their voices overlaying one another.

"If we get our group into a dating scandal, we're fucked, you know that?"

"Oh my, oh my god!! Y/N! I knew it'd happen! You have to keep in touch with Shinonome!"

"You really let some guy who you haven't seen in ages kiss you? Was that a good idea?"

Your now dried eyes were starting to get teary again. You were such a crybaby, get yourself together, y/n! "Please, I can deal with this. Media isn't going to find out about Akito and I, then after this tour, we'll blow up! Project Sekai Entertainment loves us, don't worry."

"Y/N I..." Mika trailed off. "Okay. I trust you. We need to get going in three hours anyways, so maybe you should've said your goodbyes to your man a little later."

Your man. Your man. Your cheeks dusted a pale pink with those words. "I should've." Is all you can manage to spit out. You're starting to regret saying bye to him so soon. "I love you guys so much, y'all are the best. Let's make our fans go wild." You grinned.

"Yeah!!" Sayaka cheered, and so you and the rest of SWEET TOOTH spent the remaining three hours in Shibuya laughing and joking around.

You'd see Akito again soon. You and him both know it.

HOW SWEET! - track 1. OMG.

a/n: get ready for an irregular posting schedule guys!! I will update whenever I can! I'll try to do it as often as I can cause I love my man 💋💋 please listen to OMG its gotta be one of my fav new jeans songs

You told Mika that you had to talk to someone and instead of going back to the dressing room, you ran down and back to the exit. You caught him just as he was about to leave.

"Y/N, I-" He looked at you, fully glammed out in your cute outfit and makeup, "Is it really you?"

"Yeah. It's me. It's been so long uh..." This was awkward for the both of you. It was even worse that you forgot his name.

"Shinonome Akito. You really forgot my name?" He played it off as a joke, but his eyes showed that he felt slightly hurt.

"Akito! I'm sorry, I remember everything about you, just not your name." You didn't want people to start making theories of you two dating, so you had to go somewhere a little more private.

"You really brought this dude in our dressing room?" Rei complained.

"Oh shut it Rei, do you want SWEET TOOTH to be caught in a controversy as soon as they have a concert. Wait, why did you come here in the first place?" You asked.

He turned his face away from you. "Well uh, I recognized your face when I saw a promo for your concert on social media. And so I got tickets, hoping I'd at least get to see you once more."

"That's so sweet! And you guys were childhood friends?" Sayaka smiles, resting her chin on your head.

"Yup, it was really nice. But then I had to move away to Osaka." You frown. Akito has really grown up since you last saw him. His hair now had a dyed yellow streak, he had earrings, his overall vibe was just different.

Unfortunately for you, he noticed your staring. "I guess we've both really changed, huh?"

"Yeah."

"Gosh you two are so awkward. I'm going outside." Mika picked up her bag and left the dressing room, Rei and Sayaka following suit. That left you and your childhood best friend Akito motherfucking Shinonome in the dressing room alone.

"I'm not going to be staying here for long. We have another concert some other place around here and then we're off to some other place in Japan. Then we go to America. I don't know how long we'll stay there," You inform him.

"So we're only going to actually have time together for like, a day?" He asks.

You nod. "It really sucks. I wanted to talk to you more but at least we have phones? Give me your number." You handed him your phone and he typed in his number. He made his contact name "Akito 🧡" an orange heart. You look at the phone and back up at him.

He's smirking. What a cocky bastard. "I deserve to have a heart next to my name, y/n. Maybe I won't write shitbag as your contact name cause you're special."

You playfully punch him. "I'm changing yours to stupid ginger."

"Don't you dare change it!"

You both burst into laughter. Only one day with him? You missed everything about Akito. You wiped a tear from your eye. "Akito, you have to promise me that we're going to spend the rest of the time that I'm here together." You held your pinky out.

"I promise." His pinky intertwined with yours.

After the cafe confession, you slide your mask back on and let Akito give you a tour of the area.

"Do you still play soccer?" You try to spark some conversation in this quiet walk.

"Not as much as I used to. I also started pursuing music. 'm in a group called Vivid Bad Squad. You should come watch us some time." He's facing downwards, staring at his feet moving as he walks.

"I wish I could, Akito. Maybe after tour, when we go back to Japan, I'll cheer for you in the crowd. Did you do that with me?" You adjusted your mask. You were thankful that you were wearing the mask so he couldn't see the faint smile on your face.

"Yeah, I did. I'm happy that none of my friends were there, or else they'd never let me live it down." He wrapped his arm around your waist (thank goodness you were hiding your identity, or else your fans would go crazy) and exhaled, "Being an idol must be exhausting, right? Ena has a friend who's an idol. You've heard of More More Jump before?"

Oh More More Jump, the idols which the press called "your rivals". SWEET TOOTH hasn't even met any of the members before, except for Mika meeting Haruka once. Media just liked things to be more dramatic. "I've listened to some of their songs before. People think we're rival groups."

"That's stupid." You can only hum in response.

He walked you back to your dorm in silence, which somehow wasn't awkward. It was nice spending time with him.

"I'll come back for you soon, Akito." You muttered, pulling your mask down and kissing him.

"You better, y/n. I'll be waiting." He hugged you for the last time before turning around and walking back to his place. You were lucky he didn't stay, because you don't know what you would've done if he noticed the tears forming and streaming down your face. You sniffled and wiped your eyes, but the teardrops just kept coming.

Even when you were at the hotel room SWEET TOOTH was staying in, you couldn't get your mind off of Akito. The way his eyes shone when he first saw you, his now matured voice, the way his pinky was warm when it intertwined with yours.

"Rei still isn't okay in the head guys," Rei knocked on your head.

"Hey!" You tackled Rei, who let out a yelp. "I'm definitely not sharing a bed with you, asshole."

"Fine! I'll share it with Mika instead! I didn't want to share a bed with you in the first place!" Rei huffs. She breaks character a moment later, giggling.

A ding from your phone interrupted your silly argument. It was Akito.

He used the wrong you're, that idiot. At least he texted you the location, and it looked like a decent place

He marks your message as read and you turn your phone off, sighing happily.

"Did your boyfriend text you, y/n? You seem awfully happy," Sayaka asks.

"He's not my boyfriend..! We're just friends," You state. He did look really handsome, but even if you did like him, he probably wouldn't like you back anyways.

"You guys aren't dating?" Mika exclaims.

"Why do you sound so shocked??"

The next morning, you got up and texted the still sleeping members that you were going out to get coffee. You wore a mask, glasses, and a hat to hide your identity and you met up with Akito, who was already sitting at a table.

"How long were you here waiting for?" You inquired, sitting down next to him.

"Only a minute or two. Don't worry. What do you want to order?"

"Maybe..." You spotted your favorite dessert and drink combo, telling him that's what you wanted. "I already know what you're going to order."

The waiter came with your food and Akito's pancakes. As you two were eating, Akito looked off. As if he was thinking about something.

"What's up, Akito?" You poked his cheek.

He smiled. "Y/N, I'm curious, do you... like anyone?"

a/n -> hello guys! I tried working on a longer fanfiction before but. you know how it turned out. 😓 this one is gonna be different! think of y/ns group to be like new jeans but like, the Japanese version Also uh I took creativity in naming the idols y/n is in the group with!

Summer of XXXX. You became friends with a boy. You don't remember his name, but he was a ginger and he was your best friend for years. And then you had to move away. You remember being on the verge of tears, wondering when you'd see him again.

A decade later, you're now on the verge of tears again, but for a completely different reason. "Oh god man, I'm gonna flop this debut and it's gonna be so embarrassing and we're going to fail and-"

One of your fellow idols, Sayaka put a finger to your lips and shushed you, "Y/N, politely, shut the hell up. We're going to be fine. I'm nervous too, but just believe in yourself."

"Girl you sound like one of those kid shows, telling y/n to 'believe in herself'? Y/N, you'll be fine. I'm sure Sayaka is gonna do a worse job than you," Rei butt in, though she seemed to care more about making Sayaka mad than about your comfort.

"Rei, don't try starting fights with Sayaka please." Mika, the leader of the group, sighed. She looked at you and her eyes softened.

You laughed a little, "You guys are- You know what. I will be fine. Where are we touring again? I remember some places we're going to, but not others."

Mika listed off the places you all would be going to. Some familiar, some not, but one of them stood out. Shibuya. You used to live there before you moved. "You alright?"

"Ah, I'm fine! It's just that I used to live in Shibuya and I was just taking a trip down memory lane. That's our first location?"

"Yeah, our first one and then after our last, we get a rest for a week before we go to America," Rei added. You groaned at the thought of only staying for a week before you to to the other side of the world.

"Not to scare you guys but, we're performing in an hour," Sayaka warned, looking at her phone.

An hour passed quicker than you could say "pancake" and before you knew it, you were upstage, a sea of crowd watching you.

"Welcome to SWEET TOOTH's first concert, everyone! We hope you enjoy!" You put on your cute persona that you showed on social media, and it surprisingly worked; you could tell from the screams.

The instrumental from your first song came up and you tried your hardest not to mess up. You did the same with all the others you performed and the concert soon ended. As everyone was leaving from the crowd, you saw someone's orange hair. The same hair from ten years ago...
