Detail photo of my sculpture “The Ivory Griffin” from 2008 (scroll back 4 posts to see a shot of the whole body) I was going for a raptor-like appearance on this one, which apparently I achieved based on the number of distressed people over the years that thought I used a bald eagle to create this, and someone did yet again when I posted it last week. So here is a close-up. My techniques will be easier to discern. The feathers are actually a white rooster cape mounted over a turkey head that has had its beak shaped with sculpting epoxy. The feet are also from a turkey. Other things in my bag of tricks to re-create or mimic a specific species: trimming/shaping feathers, airbrushing, dyeing, bleaching, stenciling patterns, shaving pelts, hair/fur/feather extensions, hair/feather plugs, modified teeth and modified claws. My #TradeSecrets are now yours. Sorry to spoil the mystique ;) https://www.instagram.com/p/COf0WryLDs3/?igshid=gtr6nrv8h2le
