idk if it's just me but I've always kind of disliked Chris. I think Ann deserved better and I hated how Chris dumped her "nicely"
Honestly I think that’s part of the beauty of Parks and Rec, you know? You can appreciate some actions the characters did, and dislike others. Personally, I read April as somewhat homophobic and she’s my favorite character in the whole world.
I personally feel like Ann and Chris were very well matched and I’m glad they ended up together, and I think you might want to look at the full picture. Did Chris dump her with no real reason? Yeah, he did. Was that kinda bad? Yeah, sure. But he was a time in his life where he was still figuring out who he was, what his real priorities were, and he didn’t even know that he was still figuring that out. Exercise, oversharing, enthusiasm, of course that’s all Chris but that’s not all he is, you know what I mean? He still had to discover the real Chris at his core and he did that in seasons 4 and 5, just like Ann did for herself. And then they found each other again.
Ann Perkins (☞゚ヮ゚)☞
Why do you think Parks fan don't love Ann/Chris much? Is it because it took them so long to fall in love while the show's two main couples stayed happily together once they first started dating? Or because Chris and Ann both dated so many other people that it was hard to take their feelings for each other seriously once they discovered them? Those are valid reasons btw---I'm just curious! I don't love them as much as Benslie and April x Andy but I do adore them and think they're underrated!
I think that part of it is that the show didn't give them as much screentime and as much development as Benslie or A/A. If you don't have as many details and sweet little moments, you don't get as emotionally invested. That's probably a reason why.
Other than that, well, people in general tend not to really like Ann, I've noticed. Maybe they only consider her the best friend and nothing else, maybe they don't like her plotlines in general, maybe they don't identify with her character traits and flaws. In any case, Ann is not very popular.
Chris is only popular as a one-note character. Most people think of him as the "literally" guy and not a fully developed character. They don't acknowledge his character growth (learning to deal with failure and with depression and negativity), don't acknowledge his desire to get more and more involved in people's lives instead of this warm but distant positive person he was initially, don't care to see him romantically involved with anyone.
So the two of them together, people in general just don't seem to care. I think they're a very nice relationship that just happened? They dated, stopped dating, grew a lot as individuals, and found each other again. It's a beautiful story and they're good individuals and characters and I'm happy they found someone who makes them happy.
Ben and Leslie or Ann and Chris ?!
Traegerkins is the stuff.
