I was going back through my trafficstuck tag & got absolutely punched in the face by the fact that at some point I had realized that "Juppet" is a valid troll name.

At long last: the headshot reference sheet for my Trafficstuck AU!

They’re organized by which ship they were on when they left Alternia (post-3rd Life, pre-Last Life).

who was the last to leave alternia and why? did they have any problems with their ship or getting away or did it just kind of... happen that way?

Ship 6

The last ship to leave was Scar’s, purely because, as royalty without a hit on his head, he had the luxury of taking as long as he wanted to prepare & make a leisurely departure. As long as he left before reaching the point where something was obviously wrong & other older violet bloods, or god forbid The Condesce, were called in, he was pretty much golden. So he took the time to make sure that his ship was build to the strictest, highest standards, & fully furnished & packed with as many supplies as possible, & then departed about 2/3 of the way through their cohort taking off.

This was incredibly stressful for his other shipmates, Griann & Mummbo, who did not have the blood status to do such things. Griann, a mutant blood, is pretty much always at risk of immediate culling & is very much used to trying to keep as low a profile as possible. The fact that he is even alive to see his cohort go off planet is thanks to his status as a violet blood’s moirail.

& Mummbo, being a jade blood, is expected to report to the brooding caverns so that he can be cloistered down there for the rest of his life, helping the Mother Grub. The only reason he hasn’t been taken by force or culled for not going is because of Scar pretending that Mummbo is his matesprit. (This does not go smoothly. Poor Mummbo was not consulted beforehand & legit has no idea how to fake this, he’s so anxious, oh dear sweet troll jegus, please someone help this man.)

So yeah. Griann & Mummbo would really have preferred to have left earlier, but Scar insisted on taking time for everything to be just right. So for like half a sweep, they were either hiding in Scar’s hive or glued to Scar’s side, just in case something went sideways. Many sighs of relief were had once they finally made it to space.

Since the ship is very obviously Scar’s & Scar still has high standing in troll society, it’s pretty rare for them to have issues with other trolls. Occasionally they will have to visit other cold blood’s ships or host guests on Scar’s ship to keep up appearances & maintain diplomacy. Griann doesn’t find this totally objectionable (getting to play, & often win, traditional troll mind games with a bunch of high bloods is pretty funny), but detests the fact that he has to change out of his favourite red sweater to do so. Scar has explained the rules of troll high society etiquette to him so many times & he knows full well it’s better to get dressed up in Scar’s blood colour than get culled, but that does not stop him from complaining every single time.

Mummbo, on the other hand, looks perfectly respectable, but is such an anxious mess trying to pretend to have, or even understand having, a matesprit that he usually just stays out of the way. He’ll make an appearance & exchange pleasantries when required, but goodness, would he ever prefer to never have to interact with any trolls outside the Life Games group. (Why isn’t this getting easier, why is everyone so hung up on this quadrant business, is he doing this right? Should he hold Scar’s hand? Or kiss him? Goodness gracious, that’s surely too much, but what is the right amount of flushed affection to show & when & oh bother, this is right disaster, isn’t it?) (Please note that this nonsense is a good blend of a) Mummbo being aroace & not getting the whole quadrant thing & most importantly b) him being a nervous wreck who overthinks everything.)

other than lizzie, who do you reckon has the biggest size difference with their lusus?

Aaaah thank you!!! ^^ I am honestly so freaking happy with how that came out & it’s got me excited to do more art in a similar style!!!

In fact, I was so hype after that, that I’ve started working on a sheet with Homestuck bean mode/hero mode style headshots of all the trolls. I completed all the sketches yesterday & finished 6 of them this morning/afternoon. (Also omg send help I’ve been drawing for so long…) But yeah! More art coming! This time with everyone’s horn designs & what not!

(& actually, I may have signed up for the MCYT Co-create Event with a couple of big projects for this AU… Tragically this means I won’t be able to post them until July most likely, but when July comes… oh boy!)

Hmm.., I think that’d have to be Jimmie & his Canarydad (name pending) as Canarydad is the size of a normal Earth canary & as such is rather smol compared to most lusii.

On the other end, the biggest lusus (bar Lizzie’s) is definitely Pancakes who is about twice as big as Tangoh.

(I want to mention Mummbo’s Mothdad as well, as he is, uh, much larger than an Earth moth. In fact, Mothdad is decidedly taller than Mummbo, who is already pretty tall for a troll of his age & blood colour. Mothdad: so cute, so huge & terrifying at the same time. But still a bit smaller & less terrifying than Pancakes.)

do you think they trust each other more after what they've been through in the games? do they get along, or are their certain rifts between some of them?

(Ahgijwnfrjin I had this completely answered, left the app to fact check something, & when I came back literally a minute later, tumblr had refreshed & deleted my answer. >.< Okay, trying again…)

The games are definitely a net positive for the group’s trust in each other, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t issues that arise!

For instance, there’s a few people who are more apprehensive of Bigbee, notably Cleaoh (after Last Life) & Scar (after Double Life). Which, to be fair, is probably a safer (though not really correct) assessment of Bigbee considering his out of game position. (Honestly, if it weren’t for Bigbee knowing the group & playing in 3rd Life before they all left Alternia, far less of them would trust him.)(I still need to do some research (read: watching a couple BigB series) to fine tune things, but I’m really excited about what I have for Bigbee so far. That man is inscrutable.)(Basically he’s a face paint-less laughssassin still technically employed by The Condesce, but he is still friends with the group. He comes & goes on his little transport ship, rotating between docking on one of the group’s ships, docking on official Alternian ships, & just generally wandering. Think Inara from Firefly if she had more ships she could dock to & also her ship was more capable of independent space travel. & I guess also if she literally worked for their direct enemy & could probably take out the whole crew. But Bigbee would never hurt anyone from the group, right?)

Joel isn’t a big fan of Scohtt either. So much so that Eethos jokes that he’s gonna lose his “kismesis” with how pitch Joel is waxing for Scohtt. (This was never really a threat though, as Joel & Eethos, despite Joel’s claims, are more flushed anyway. Plus Scohtt mostly just likes flirting towards whatever quadrant seems amusing at the time. It’s fun to pitch flirt with Joel just enough to make Joel sputter & make a fool of himself.)

There’s a whole thing between Lizzie & Cleaoh after Last Life as well, but I need to develop that a bit more before sharing.

Eethos Slahab & Foxdad

(Been practicing simplifying designs & did this to try out a Homestuck inspired style. It kinda walks the line between a few of the art styles used in comics, but I’m very happy with it! Also Foxdad no longer has antlers due to them being an absolute bitch to draw on an all white fox.)
