Also, I have been thinking about the crushing reality that after all I've done and lived through, after filling my life with laughter and knowledge, art and movement, with nature and people, with everything that life as a human has to offer, I will still be left longing for the simple love of another human being. Of a stupid, unreal, unreachable love story, like from the books.
yknow im actually v sad so little tragic sad women exist in fiction. and like i mean in the terms of "i did something terrible, or thought i what i did was terrible, in the past and i regret it and want to make amends" tragic sad. like, just as examples, both Solas and Blackwall from DAI are both tragically sad, but can still be loved and romanced by the protag. Its the same for Julian in The Arcana app game. all three of them are haunted by their pasts and want to make things better, and often w/o your help, but you can still pursue their romance line. So why can't it be the same for women? I have not seen any well-written women so overtly haunted by their regrettable past in recent video games (at least to my knowledge, i could very well not know abt a game that holds such a lady) and still be romanceable and loved by the community. i just want the protag to fall head over heels for a woman who has fucked up beyond measures, who desperately wants to right her past wrongs, all the while learning to love both again and herself, and Really doesnt want their protag to "fall for a terrible person like me" even tho theyre clearly not. let women be sad and become better people
I'm reading a biography about Mary Shelley (Child of Light, in case you're interested) I'm only like 20 pages in (if even) and there's an excerpt from Percy. Omg. Percy Shelley is such a fucking dick. I mean, what the fuck was I expecting right? Sometimes I get down about being a nobody who no one will ever look at twice at... But atleast I didn't have to live in the same time period as Percy Shelley.
Why do people think there's something beautifully tragically romantic about girls being sad? Like jfc, where's the really acknowledged literature about girls being happy on their own? Just let women be happy on their own! Stop making people feel like they need someone else to complete them. Let them know its okay that their life completes itself!
back when i was a sophomore in high school my violin tutor from middle school got into a car accident and had to have surgery on her arm and to wear a cast from her shoulder down..
I will always remember listening to her mom explain what happened to my mom..she said that she was driving with her boyfriend when they crashed and while they were being put into the ambulances he made sure that the paramedics knew to take care of her hands and harms because she was a violinist
and that has forever stuck with me because it is the most tragically romantic thing i have ever heard
my mum & dad always went to that restaurant (from the 80s onwards) and mum was telling me stories about the two of them and their 'story' .It is the most romantic thing i have ever heard which makes me so happy but also just as sad
