i always wondered what it means when ppl say shipped like "i shipped them" or whatever do they mean shipped like mailed, srsly im confused

well my understanding is that it's like....When you have two people (or three in some cases i guess people do that) and it's not really believing they "should" be in a relationship, but you support "imagining" them as a couple. And those two people are called a "ship" or an "otp" (one true pair). The otp has a ship name like.... Porton (Porter Robinson and Anton Zaslavski) or Skrillmau5 (Skrillex and Deadmau5) for example. Not all ships are gay, though it may appear to be that way in certain fandoms like the EDM fandom, some are straight. The actual act of shipping two people is just personal choice to imagine them as a couple. Many people who ship a pair may write fanfic or draw fanart about them. (Or come up with headcannons which I am still don't completely understand.) When a ship goes 'cannon' it is real or able to be caught on camera, or if a ship is already cannon the two people have identified themselves as a couple. I hope that made sense to you but I probably just confused you more.
