Quite possibly the first #train20challenge entry featuring KITTEHS! Yes, cats can be trained with positive reinforcement methods just* like dogs! *except that cats seem to gravitate towards food reinforcers more than play or praise like dogs. . Here we are working on stationing: I would like Sophie to leave Bear alone while I’m training with Bear, and vice versa. This is a HARD behavior, especially for Sophie who is mad for the @tikipets Stix treats I’m using. My method right now is that I ask one cat for a behavior and click for a success, and then treat both cats away from each other. I want the cats to learn that my interaction (and the click) with the other cat means they should stay away to receive a treat. . . This is also simultaneous counter-conditioning for the cats towards each other, who have only ever tolerated each other. Since they getting lots of treats in each other’s presence, hopefully they are forming a more positive association with the other cat. . . THANK YOU @cat.school for the idea to work on stationing to train two cats at once. #domorewithyourcat #trainyourcat #positivereinforcement #cattrainer #forcefree #positivereinforcementtraining #catsofinstagram #catbehavior #cattraining https://www.instagram.com/p/B8PAZbXpgOI/?igshid=anr4gbdf2vzq
