After introducing themselves to the leader, Bugsy, they headed to the battlefield. They decided Ev would go first again since she had type advantage with Chulli. “I never lose when it comes to a Bug-type Pokémon. My research is going to make me the authority on Bug-type Pokémon! Let me demonstrate what I’ve learned from my studies.” Bugsy stated proudly, sending out his Scyther and Ev had Chulli take to the field.

Scyther was faster so she had Chulli use smokescreen after the Scyther used leer. Ev then switched to Dwayne in hopes to outspeed it by using Rock Polish. First time Scyther used Focus Energy, then Scyther used U-Turn which almost KOed Dwayne. Ev used a potion and was set to keep raising speed while Bugsy had Metapod out doing not-very-damaging tackles. Once Dwayne couldn’t get faster, he used Magnitude a few times with varying success. He also threw a rock. Scyther came back out and Dwayne was faster! Scyther got knocked out by one Rock Throw. Ev sent Chulli back out to get Kakuna done quickly.

“Whoa, amazing! You’re an expert on Pokémon! My research isn’t complete yet. OK, you win. Take this badge. The Hive Badge! And the TM for U-Turn.” Bugsy congratulated.

Ev began to leave. “Hey, aren’t you gonna watch my battle?” Kris asked.

“After you took so long to beat Falkner? I think I’ll go find the headbutt man so I can find a Heracross. Good luck, I’ll meet you at the Pokémon Center.” Ev said, heading out.

Only Ev’s team is available.

Kris and Ev ran through the cave opening and found themselves in some destroyed ruins. They looked around and saw a bunch of Galactic Grunts fighting Nate and his team.

Nate saw the girls and screeched at them, pointing towards Mars and Jupiter.

"Arceus as my witness, you will learn to speak." Ev sighed angrily.

The sisters ran past Nate but were stopped by Mars and Jupiter.

"Where do you think you're going? You two won't disturb our boss. If you're not going to listen, you'll have to go through me first. After all, you've made me look bad more times than I care to remember!" Mars stood in front of Ev.

"And I'll be next. You might be tough, but this time, the gloves are coming off!" Jupiter added.

"Cyrus you butt! Fight with me, Kris." Ev turned to her sister holding up a pokeball.

As Kris and Ev started to battle Mars and Jupiter, Cyrus began to carry out his plan.

"...... I command that you unleash your power for me..." Cyrus' voice could be heard through the battling going on.

"Dialga, the mythical Pokemon, and the master of time! ... And the other. Palkia, the mythical Pokemon, the master of space and dimensions!" Cyrus called before two holes opened up, revealing the gods of time and space.

Cyrus began to construct a speech at the legendary Pokemon as Kris and Ev finished their battle. However no one could hear it over Dialga bursting out in laughter.

The lake legendaries soon appeared and began to circle above the mountain.

"... I should have expected as much. Uxie, the being of knowledge. Azelf, the being of willpower. And Mesprit, the being of emotion. The pokemon have come to protect Sinnoh? Pathetic and worthless. It takes the three of them, the three lake pokemon that symbolize spirit, to balance either the pokemon of time or space. And they can't maintain balance against the two. Not when both Dialga and Palkia are here. Their coming here is in vain. So much meaningless drama. Now, you three. You've constantly interfered with my plans, but you will be forgiven. After all, there will remain no spirit for all time when I am done. All spirit will disappear. It will be ripped away... From you! From your Pokemon! From those precious to you...! It is time! My dream will be a reality!" Cyrus attacked the trio of siblings with a lecture.

Palkia and Dialga began to develop childish expressions saying "Oooooohhhhh! You're in troouuuubleeee!"

"What is this pressure I feel...? Something... is enraged?" Cyrus paused as a shadowy monster appeared out of the ground behind Cyrus.

"Interesting. So there is a pokemon that can only appear as a shadow." Cyrus turned around as the pokemon spread its wings, piercing glowing red eyes stared at Cyrus.

"Regardless, the effort is rash and foolish. I have harnessed the powers of Dialga and Palkia..." Cyrus said before the shadow glomped him into another world.

"No...!" Called someone running up.

"Cynthia!" Ev turned around to see the Sinnoh Champion approaching them.

The lake trio dove into the hole. A weak looking Mesprit, stopped to look at them before entering the hole itself.

"I'm sorry I took so long. I think I finally found the answer from studying the myths. When this world was made, Dialga and Palkia appeared. Apparently, there was one more pokemon that appeared at the same time." Cynthia started to explain some history.

"Shouldn't we just go? I don't know if there's time for ancient history right now." Ev interrupted.

"Yeah! Did you see the way that Pokemon glomped him?" Nate seemed amazed.

"Alright. But that shadow must have been Giratina." Cynthia finished as she looked around.

"The distortion to these pillars might spread if we don't do something. Come on you three. We have to chase Cyrus!" Cynthia said approaching the hole.

The siblings nodded and entered the hole following Cynthia.

"Let's find Giratina." Cynthia said as the four started walking.

Botan, Theo, Amber, Almond, Mika, Drift, Molly and Levina are taking asks again until they find Giratina.

The girls headed into the gym and were sent to the field to battle the leader. The field was suspended in the air. “Hello! I’m Falkner, the Violet City Pokémon Gym Leader!” Waved the blue haired guy on the other side of the battlefield, “People say you can clip Flying-type Pokémon’s wings with a jolt of electricity... I won’t allow such insults to bird Pokémon! I’ll show you the real power of the magnificent bird Pokémon! Which of you is first?”

“I will! I have an electric Pokémon to clip your wings! And a rock as a backup!” Ev decided.

Kris headed over to the bleachers to watch. Falkner sent out his Pidey and Ev had Faven step onto the field. One thundershock took it down so Falkner sent out his Pidgeotto. It was faster and managed to hit Faven first with a tackle and it took thundershock like a pro. After a second round of that, Faven got knocked out so Dwayne was sent out. Pidgeotto healed itself with roost as Dwayne began using Rock Throw as the best choice of attack. When at higher heath, it used gust. Falkner and his bird were not giving up, but neither were Ev and Dwayne. Soon enough, Dwayne took out the bird with several stones.

Falkner nodded as his Pokémon were taken to be healed for the next fight. “... For pity’s sake! My dad’s cherished bird Pokémon... But a defeat is a defeat. All right.” He congratulated as he came over to the challenger side, “Take this official Pokémon League Badge. This one is the Zephyr Badge. And this is the TM for Roost.”

Ev put her badge in her badge case and the TM in her bag. His Pokémon were brought back and it was Kris’ turn. She got to Pidgeotto and lost. She ran off to heal her Pokémon and returned with a bucket of wings. “This is what I’ll think of your bird Pokémon if I keep losing!” She shouted, angrily biting into one.

She lost again on Pidgeotto. “I don’t know how long this is going to take so... I’m going to see if I can find a Dunsparce back in Dark Cave. Find me when you’re done, ok?” Ev told her frustrated sister.

Waiting for Kris to win

Kurt had hurt himself falling down the well so the sisters pressed on ahead. While battling the few grunts down there, Faven evolved into Flaaffy. They found a man with green hair who seemed to be an admin. “What do we have here?” He sneered with a cheeky grin, “I am often labeled as the scariest and cruelest guy in Team Rocket...”

”I can tell from your stupid haircut. Haven’t seen a style like that since Team Galactic. The grunts at least!” Ev teased.

The man glared at them. “Bah! I haven’t heard of whatever a Team Galactic is, but I strongly urge you not to interfere with our business! Now you’ll be facing me, Proton!” He exclaimed, sending out a zubat.

Ev sent out Chulli and had him lay out a smokescreen, having the zubat miss it’s supersonic. Chulli then spat an Ember but got hit by that supersonic. While confused, he still hit the other Pokémon again. Proton then sent out his Koffing, mumbling something about people never understanding Team Rocket. Ev switched out for Missie and used Confuse Ray. In return Missie was poisoned by Koffing’s attack. Ev told Missie to use Psywave and the Koffing hurt itself after being hit. Two more Psywaves and the Koffing hurting itself once, Proton was defeated.

“Humph... Team Rocket was indeed broken up years ago. But we continued our activities underground. A small obstacle like you two won’t be much of a problem for our mission. I advise you to be very afraid of what is to come!” He threatened before calling retreat to the grunts.

Kurt managed to make his way over to congratulate them. “Way to go! Team Rocket has taken off. My back’s better, too. Let’s get out of here.” He said.

They all headed back to Kurt’s house. He told them a bit more about Team Rocket and that he’d make them Poké Balls and gave them each a Fast Ball. They said bye to Kurt and prepared to battle the gym.

To the Azalea Gym!

Ev had caught a dunsparce and sent it to the lab. She was in the Center when her sister came in and slapped her Zephyr Badge on the table. “This took seven tries.” She stared.

Before Ev could reply her Xtranciver rang. It was Professor Elm! “Hello, Ev? We’ve discovered something! The details are... well, I can’t really say anything, but we want one of you to carry that Egg!” He said.

“Dibs!” Kris called.

“My assistant is at the Poké Mart in Violet City. Could you meet him and pick up the egg?” He asked.

“Sure. Bye Professor!” Ev said and ended the call. 

They went to the mart and Kris got the egg. Exiting the mart, a kimono girl approached them. “Me oh my... That egg must be...!” She observed.

Ev explained the adventure the egg had taken so far. “I see... So it was handed from Mr. Pokémon to Professor Elm, then from Professor Elm to you. Now I get it...” the kimono girl nodded before stepping back, “That egg is truly an important egg. Please do take care of it for me. Is that understood?” She did a graceful spin. “I am counting on you.”

“That was... something.” Ev noted.

“Yeah... Hold on, I recognize those feets anywhere!” Kris nodded before spotting some funky blue shoes in the nearby bush.

They hurried over to confirm their suspicions. Their brother was sleeping in the bush when a Gastly hurriedly hovered over. The ghost Pokémon held a Chesto berry which he popped into the boy’s mouth. Nathen instantly got up. “Thanks Vlad, but you gotta watch where you’re using your Hypnosis.” He slightly scolded.

Vlad nodded, a little sad but relieved his trainer was fine. “What’s that in your coat?” Ev asked, noticing something under the discarded coat.

He noticed and lifted it to find an egg like Kris was holding. “Guess I won’t be the only one with a Togekiss if you two find shiny stones.” Ev lightly laughed.

“BATTLE!” Shouted Nathen, dragging his sisters to the Center.

“We only have time for one!” Ev shouted back.

“You got your badge faster. You do it.” Kris said.

“Fine.” Ev agreed.

Before the battle though, Nathen gave Ev a Misdreavus named Missie and a Dusk Stone for when she wanted to evolve her. They headed to the Center’s field. Ev started with her new Pokémon and Nathen sent out his own Dunsparce, Dune. Being a ghost type, Dune couldn’t hit Missie but lengthened the battle by using Roost. This went on for a few turns until Nathen had Dune used Defence Curl accidentally, and the quicker Missie hit him with another Psywave. Nathen then sent out a Magikarp named King Fishy. Missie spooked him with Astonish, flinching the splash right out of him. It was followed with two Psywaves, the second one missing. The splashes did nothing but were some impressive jumps, and King Fishy held out longer than expected. Now it was ghost vs ghost as Nathen sent out Vlad. Missie was faster and almost one-hit him with Astonish, flinching and fainting from Psywave. So Nathen sent out his last Pokémon, Pinto the Chikorita. The speedy grass baby hit Missie with two Razor Leaf attacks, knocking her out. “That’s my boy!” Nathen cheered.

In victory, Pinto evolved. “No holding back then!” Ev shouted.

Faven was sent out and almost fainted on the first Razor Leaf, fainting next turn. Dwayne was next and dodged the Razor Leaf then used Rock Polish to raise his speed. Pinto was still faster and one-hit him. Nathen was super giddy and acting like a total dork. Now it was starter vs starter. Chulli had type advantage but Pinto was stronger having evolved. Pinto poisoned him with Poison Powder and Ember didn’t do much. A smoke screen to try and better dodge more tackle attacks, Chulli took a deep breath, fine with defeat but wanting to put up a real fight. Eventually, dodging a Razor Leaf and getting close behind, Chulli won. Nathen made weird noises, having lost, and his sisters laughed at his noises which kinda cheered him up. Nathen took a head start to the next town and the sisters took a more casual pace.

On the way to Azalea Town

Ev and Kris raced into the lab with the cops already there. The local Officer Jenny was investigating outside with a few other police and one was inside gathering testimony from Elm and the assistant. “Who are you? We are investigating the case of the missing Pokémon here... Rule number one! “Whoever did it well come back to the site.”” The cop said.

He then noticed Cookie and Chulli next to their trainers. “Oh my... So you must be... The ones who did it?” The cop glared, readying to catch who he thought was guilty.

Then Ethan ran in with Officer Jenny. “Hold on a second! They have nothing to do with it! This boy gave us some critical information!” Jenny said, halting the cop.

“I saw it. There was a red-haired boy looking into the building!” Ethan exclaimed.

“Yeah! We battled him on the way here! He had a Totodile!” Kris added, Cookie copying her actions.

“What? You battled a boy like that? He must be the one who did it... Did you happen to get his name?” The cop asked.

“Yeah. He dropped his trainer card. It said Silver.” Ev answered, Chulli nodded since he remembered her reading it out loud.

“Thank you both for helping this investigation! Our next assignment is to search for this red-haired individual.” Officer Jenny thanked them.

The cops cleared out leaving just the sisters, their Pokémon, Professor Elm, and Ethan. “I’m glad they understand you two are innocent. See you later!” He smiled before leaving.

“Oh, this is terrible... Oh, yes, what was Mr. Pokémon’s big discovery?” Elm checked.

Kris handed the egg over. Elm debated over it for a bit since he hadn’t seen an egg like that before. “Well, since he gave it to us, we might as well find out what secret it holds.” Elm decided.

“Actually Professor, I had an egg like this back in the Sinnoh region that I got from Cynthia. It hatched into a Togepi. I’m sure you could ask Professor Rowan to send you the data from my Sinnoh dex.” Ev said, having recognized the egg looking like the one Geoffrey had hatched from.

“And if you aren’t satisfied with that, Professor Oak gave us pokedexes for here.” Kris added.

“What!? He did? Th-that’s incredible! Then again, he might recognize you by word of mouth amidst some trainer knowledge.” Elm nodded still surprised.

“Probably his cousin we met in Alola.” Ev guessed.

It came to agreement they’d take the Johto gym challenge with their new Pokémon. And with that, they set out.

-On the way to Violet City-

When they arrived in Violet City it was late so they spent the night at the Center with Kris’s new Sentret, Onion, and Ev’s new Geodude, Dwayne. They got some pancakes for breakfast and Cookie pointed to his mouth since he wanted some rather than his Pokémon food. “No Cookie, this is human food. If you want some you gotta do a trick.” Kris said.

Cookie thought it over, turned around, and stood on his head. The girls clapped, amazed at the skill. Kris gave him a whole pancake. He earned it. Chulli gave a thumbs up from his bowl while Onion and Dwayne clapped too.

After breakfast they headed for the gym, but they couldn’t challenge it unless they had a battle with the master of Sprout Tower. Before that, Ev went a little past the city and caught a mareep. She was named Faven. Ev wanted to make sure she’d have a type advantage other than Dwayne, the rock.

They headed over to the tower and battled the way up to the top, only to see a familiar haircut being talked to by the tower master. “You showed us what you’ve got, and it is indeed good... Take this Technical Machine. However, you should care more about your Pokémon. The way you treat your Pokémon can be too harsh... Remember, Pokémon are not tools of war...” the old man spoke before haircut turned around.

“Humph! He calls himself the Elder, but he was no match for me. Sure enough, those who lecture how you should be “nice” to Pokémon... They cannot defeat me. All I care about are strong Pokémon that win every time. The rest of them don’t mean anything to me.” He grumbled to himself.

“Excuse me!? Some of my strongest Pokémon got strong because of friendship!” Ev shouted, “Ever hear of the Pokémon Lucario!?”

Silver simply gave an annoyed look before using an escape rope. Kris put her hand on her sister’s shoulder and said, “Shut up Heather. Welcome to my Candy Store.” Ev calmed down and laughed at it. Her sister always knew a way to cheer her up.

They approached the Elder.

“So good of you to come here! Sprout Tower is a place of training. People and Pokémon test their bonds to build a brighter future together. I am the final test. Allow me to check the ties between you and your Pokémon!” The elder said.

The sisters each battled him, Kris using mostly Onion and Ev mostly using Chulli. “Hmm... The way you both battle is quite elegant. You should be able to stand up to Falkner. And you should be able to make good use of these...” he nodded, pulling out some TMs from a box behind him.

“It is a Technical Machine called Flash. Take it with you! When a Pokémon learns Flash, you can illuminate caves no matter dark they may be. You can try it on Bellsprout, for example...” The girls left, most likely never going to use the TM.

Time to challenge the Gym!

The sisters entered the house and an old man from the desk came over. “You must be Ev and Kris. It was I who sent an email to Professor Elm earlier.” He greeted as he dragged them in to sit on the couch.

He went into a drawer and took out an egg. “This is what I want Professor Elm to examine. A friend of mine from Ecruteak gave it to me. I bet you can’t find this kind of egg in Johto. I thought Professor Elm might be able to tell what this is.” Mr. Pokémon said matter of factually.

“Then we better take it to him!” Kris said quickly, not wanting the old man to chat to long. She safely tucked the egg in her bag as Ev got a better look at it. It seemed familiar.

Their Pokémon had rested up on the couch with them and felt ready to get back on the road. The other old man came over. “And with that... I’m Professor Oak, a Pokémon researcher! So you’re Ev and Kris! I was just visiting my friend Mr. Pokémon. I heard you two were running an errand for Professor Elm, so I waited here.” Oak introduced himself.

He took a better look at Chulli and Cookie. “Oh! What’s this? Two rare Pokémon! I see! You must be helping Professor Elm’s research! I think I understand why he gave you two those Pokémon.” Oak grinned.

“We didn’t get the chance to help as kids since we had our first Pokémon journeys in different regions?” Ev guessed, recalling her first steps in Unova back as a kid... or was it more the lines of young teenager?

“Because we’re experienced trainers who treat our Pokémon with love and care?” Kris guessed.

“Yes! ...Ah! You seem to be dependable. How would you like to help me out?” Oak asked, pulling two things out of his pockets.

“You want us to fill out the Johto dex!” Ev guessed.

Oak nodded and handed over the Pokédexes. “But I’ve stayed too long. I have to get to Goldenrod for my usual radio show. I have a feeling this is not the last time we’ll meet... let’s exchange numbers just to be on the safe side.” He suggested.

Ev registered him in her Xtranciever and he left. Chulli spit out a small fireball. The two left the house and the phone watch started ringing. It was Elm. “H-hello? Ev? It’s a disaster! Uh, um, it’s just terrible! What should I do? It... Oh, no... Please get back here now!” He frantically asked before hanging up.

“Problems!?” Kris said.

“Let’s go!” Ev declared and they ran off.
