Once split up Sia took the names down and then smirked. Yubin frowned, whenever teachers did that, they were about to fuck you up in some way shape or form. Even the others could see it and started to whisper to each other about was going on, Sia let them sit like that for a second before she waved a hand in the air. A friendly smile graced her lips.
"Now, I just wanted to see what skills you all thought you had, but really, we're going to talk about, what is rap to you." There was a collective sigh as the group came together again, taking seats in chairs and on the floor. Some kid raised his hand and spoke up.
"It's about being cool." Yubin raised a brow and Sia shrugged, tapping her pen against her thigh.
"Yeah, being cool is apart of it, but why do people rap?"
That question throw some people and no one had an answer so she changed it up. "What caused you to start rapping?" Various people shouted out answers, because they couldn't sing well, because someone told them they should to do that, because they could talk fast. Honesty seemed to be the best policy with these kids but Sia could only smile.
"Who likes poetry in here?" Again a few hands were raised and she nodded her head, looking over everyone with a thoughtful face, she wanted to them to get this.
"Everyone write a poem and bring it to me next session." The others looked up in something like shock and Yubin brought out her journal.
"Yes, yes, this lesson was short. Just go have fun!"
When rap class rolled around, she was happy to see Sia. She hadn’t seen the girl since they met the one day before her official start at TRC. The class was bigger, with about twenty students, Yubin sat close to the front, in something like amazement, she hadn’t expected to see so many people here. It never felt like the company had this many trainee’s but then again, places showed only what they wanted to be seen. She waved a few people, some she had different classes with.
"Guys, I’m Sia. Some of you may have seen me at the TRC Tour." A few people nodded their heads.
"I'm one of the very many vocal coaches here. but I specialize and rap. Some of you will see me more often then others, depending on what your focusing on." Again there was another round of head nods and Sia talked about some more things.
Yubin took note of everything that was being said and scribbled it down in her notebook. She was glad that Sia was her teacher, she liked the girl the most, it might have been because of the TRC tour, the women was very cool and chill. When she looked up again the group was being split in two.
"Now people who can do LTE rap over there, beat boxing over there." She split the group off into parts. Yubin went over to the LTE rap group and rocked back and forth, a few smirks were thrown her way and she pouted to herself, why did people doubt her when they didn't even really know her.
They both sat down on the floor, facing each other, Yubin sat indent style, her hands resting on her legs. She swallowed thickly and pushed the hair back from her face, she long ago took off her hoodie, and the bottom of her feet ached, but she felt nice. Eric was smiling but she wondered why, the man hadn't spoken while she caught her breath. He just stared as if studying her, she didn't feel that bad about it but it was getting a little weird. Finally he opened his mouth.
"When she dance alone, don't close your eyes." She raised a brow at him and he chuckled. "Don't close your eyes, watch yourself in the mirror, use that to push yourself." She nodded her head, the words trying to make sense in her brain. "There are various dancers in life." She leaned forward.
"Some people dance, because they are forced, some dance because it's life. And some people dance like robots." She giggled. "But you are a dancer who dances with passion and sometimes to much passion can be a bad thing, you need to watch yourself to catch the small mistakes." Again, she understood and tried to show it, past the tiredness in her eyes.
"A company will keep a dancer who gets it right before someone who cares." Yubin winced but nodded her head at the cold truth. Even when she knew it was the truth, it being told to you hit more, it always showed just how replaceable you could be.
When it was her turn to go to Eric, her body felt like it was on fire, Soyul had them doing things, she hadn't done in a while, along with the classes she took at AOS, she figure, she was very much out of shape. Dancing for a long time, right now wasn't her strong point but she'd get over it some how. A chuckle left her mouth as she stopped by the bathroom.
She stared in the mirror, and noticed the small strings of hair sticking to her face, she wanted pass out but she didn't. Instead she splashed her face with water and went back out. She pushed open the doors to the second dance studio and looked around but Eric was no where to be seen. Instead of just sitting, she pulled out her own own and speakers and hooked them up. Setting on a play-list, she let the music take her over.
Before she knew it, her eyes were closed and she moved to the beat. Just making up moves as she went along, more sweat came down her face but she just flicked it away and kept dancing, each second, she pushed herself just a little more. Her breath came out, harsher and she paused to breath, when she looked up. Eric was standing near the mirrors and held out a bottle of water to her. She looked at her own empty one and took it with a smile.
"I have a few things to tell you." He gave her a smile.
Then the music cut off and Yubin dropped to the floor as graceful as she could. She noticed some students had been swapped out. She twisted her neck and Soyul crossed her arms looking over them.
"Tired already?" The few of them groaned and she laughed a little. "Go get your water." Yubin rolled around and grabbed the bottle, placing herself up against the wall. "You guys did okay." She winced at the word. "No where near what TRC wants or needs but I'm here to make ok, great." She relaxed her arms. "We're going to study hip hop but also pop and anything else. You never know what concept you will get or what type of dancing you have to do."
"Now, I'm going to give you a group dance. And I want you to practice it. Next time we meet, I'll see it all together." She looked up when another student was swapped out. "But now, we go back to following me." Yubin wanted to spit the water out her mouth but she didn't instead she stood up and took her place. Soyul clapped a few times to the beat and started to move. This time the song was more pop-ish. The movements were easier and she was able to keep up, a small frown was on her features as she realized how rusty she got. Not even her dancing at the MGA's could make up for everything she did. She had been in limbo for a while and her skills suffered because of that.
She would make sure she worked extra hard on this.
"You'll be split up into sessions today, first half will be with me and the other half with Eric." Soyul said to the students gathered in the dance room. It was only about six of them. "The lesson's with Eric will be private so you'll each go out and move around." First was a boy, he and Eric left and Soyul turned on some music. It started to blast around the room.
"Follow!" All of a sudden there was a flurry of movement. Soyul started to dance and the others hand to mirror her movements, it was small things but Yubin could see that she was clearly behind some of the students, this was straight hip hop she was more of a freestyle or contemporary dancer. She only did small bits of hip hop but sher was her training that she managed to keep up. She didn't hit the moves as hard but she could get to them.
This went for for about five minutes before Soyul cut off the music. She raised a brow and Yubin knew it wasn't her friend in there. It was about to get real. She picked off two girls to stand to the side. All that was left were Yubin, and two other boys. Soyul turned on the music again and started to move. So again she followed, she hadn't broken sweat just yet but she had a feeling she would. So she focused on Soyul and the dancing.
