rereading traitor bc the second tumblr atla renaissance has gotten me hard and it really is THE sokka fic. like yn is a badass nonbending sword fighter. she has had to fight every step of the way for the life she wants. her dynamic with azula is so good. she has chemistry with literally everyone. i think i said this the first time i read it during the first tumblr atla renaissance but you get the characters sooo well especially azula. it’s so incredible
I had to take time to just re read this message over and over and compose myself enough to even form a thank you that’s coherent. Hearing that people like something that’s so beloved to me just makes my heart want to explode and seeing all the new likes and reblogs that are coming through my notifs as people rediscover (or discover!) their love for atla because of the movie leak just makes me feel so motivated to give something back tbh I love to hear that people see how much I care for the beautiful and complex character of Azula. I latched onto her story when I watched atla for the first time and just knew that there was more to her than we as viewers were ever given. Traitor always was what I would label, “an Azula fic” from the beginning — I don’t remember if I meant for it to be wlw way back then or just how it is, but the first scene I imagined before writing was the first chapter with Azula and y/n. Yes, somewhere along the line I made it sokka&y/n because I wanted some romance and that’s where the story was leading. Although it’s not a gen fic, Traitor really is all about the friendships that y/n forms with everyone and the emotions that come with that. I’m so touched by this message <3
