Looking back at these photos of my pregnancy, birth and beyond is really such a trip. To think, I carried this beautiful child for (almost) 9 months and actually gave birth to him...it's the most amazing feeling. To know that I am capable of such a miracle is so humbling. This journey was and is the best decision I've ever made. It was so worth all of the dysphoria I've experienced, because just looking at that face makes it all disappear. Being a seahorse dad is the greatest blessing I could ever imagine. ❤️❤️

Thanks for highlighting this common misconception (no pun intended). It's good to talk about how fertility is affected by transition. Because there's a lack of data about fertility long term, doctors advise transitioners on hormones to preserve their gametes if they want to procreate in the future but this can be prohibitively expensive. However, there's increasing evidence that people with ovaries can resume production or even continue uninterrupted production of ova after taking testosterone. Trans men who keep their reproductive organs have even gotten accidentally pregnant after years and years on HRT, so trans men who don't want a pregnancy need to use birth control of some kind even if they are on testosterone.

I am getting a bit on in years but I do still hope to raise a family someday when I find the right partner(s). Luckily for me, I'm not too attached to the idea of biological children of my own and would be happy to adopt and/or to partner with a transmasculine person who could carry and birth a child themselves, or to be part of a communal household with more than two adults and coparent children that way.

When I first began transition many of my well-meaning friends and family members assumed that meant I'd forgo raising children, so it's really important to talk about these misconceptions and to let younger trans people know there are options for them, and that parenthood is by no means something that only cis people can experience.

Does any of y’all have some info on how testosterone impacts fertility in trans men?

My partner (1+ year on T) wants to have biological children in ca. 5 years and we are wondering what impact long-term T therapy might have. Egg retrieval is not an option for us since surrogacy is illegal here in Germany. My partner would like to carry his own biological child to full term.

Unfortunately, none of his (specialized, mind you) docs have any clue on this topic, so we are left to do the research ourselves.

We’re collecting information already but any personal experience or scientific articles/sources would be highly apprechiated. Thank you!

I’m super aware when reading any pregnancy info that its all geared towards cis women like it would kill them to just say “pregnant people”, let alone talk about any struggles and joys of trans pregnancy. AND EVERYTHING IS FUCKING PINK. JESUS WHY.  pregnancy industry needs a major intersectional feminist update but i cant help but feel like its not discussed. 

(if anyone wants to recommend sources for me to learn more about trans pregnancy issues or feminism and pregnancy, let me know!)

Hello Tumblr peeps! Long time, no talk and boy has life changed! Here's a little update:

In April of 2020, my partner and I decided that we wanted to have a baby together, and so began our journey. I stopped taking testosterone and fell pregnant 7 months later, November 2020, with our perfect little man.

In May 2021, I got to marry my wonderful partner in front of his parents, my grandparents and friends/family over Facebook Live. It was a beautiful wedding and we enjoyed our honeymoon in New Hampshire.

Overall, life has been a wild ride, but we are loving every minute with each other and our little prince, Rowan. 🥰❤️
