Trans generation
This “docudrama” feels more like reality TV than documentary as it follows four transitioning students attending universities across the USA. Gabbie and Raci are male-to-female while Lucas and T. J. are female-to-male.
I liked that this documentary didn’t solely focus on the white experience of being trans*, T.J. is from Armenia and in addition to being a woman of color, Raci is deaf. Minorities don’t get much airtime, and finding examples of intersectionality for trans* people is difficult. This is a great item to have available in a library, but the series has some NSFW language and recreational drug use (all realities of teenage-hood, but frowned on in “teen” DVD collections).
