help finding resource?
Hey! I am looking for a log/description/transcript of a conversation between a hotline employee (potentially) and the mother of a trans teen (daughter, I think—the mom initially was misgendering their child) that starts rough but ends with the mom supportive and grateful, intending to pursue further resources about supporting their daughter.
The hotline worker treated the mother’s upset respectfully, highlighted that the mother obviously cares for her child/wants the best for them, and explains very gently how the mom can best do that in a way that really stuck with me.
I’d like to find this to share with a friend whose small town has some pushback to queer-focused programming, such as evenings for kids to be themselves in a safe space to, say, paint, chat, w/e. Any leads greatly appreciated!!!
Calls to the trans crisis hotline have nearly double since North Carolina passed HB2
In a new interview, Trans Lifeline Executive Director Greta Gustava Martela said that since North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory signed HB2 into law phones at the hotline have been ringing off the hook. Martela said that prior to April 2016, the record for the most incoming calls in a day had been about 200. On April 13, Trans Lifeline received an "unprecedented" number of calls.
We are into this! Visit their website to donate to this cause & find out more info! They are currently looking for new Life Line Host as well! http://www.translifeline.org/ They also have a number for Canada: (877) 330-6366 -The Team
is that trans hotline thing you reblogged free? my parents cant know i called it
Hey Anon.
Numbers with an 877 area code are free.
HOWEVER, don’t forget to erase it from the phone’s call history if you don’t want your parents to find out that you’ve called it.
