Funny scene that popped in my head while reading ✨this✨:
*Canon world. Mid-war and mid-battle.*
Everyone suddenly stops when they get bombarded with a vision.
Some of their counterparts are coming to their world.
Alternate Hawks is a trans male and a Heteromorph.
More urgent, important news:
Alternate Dabi has seduced him!
A flash of light appears and they are met with their counterparts.
*Fanon POV*
Keigo lets out an annoyed squawk when he sees he and Touya are no longer alone.
'He was about to MATE ME!!' the Bird mentally rants, his wings ruffling with irritation.
"Hawks, Dabi is standing near you!" someone shouts.
Getting an idea, Keigo grabs Touya with his feathers.
"Got him! I'll take him to a holding cell!" the sexually frustrated Bird chirps, planning on NOT doing that.
"Actually, the prisons are compromised. We're holding prisoners nearby," Aizawa says, KNOWING what the alternate Hero is planning.
"Then I surrender. Dabi, take me as your prisoner," Keigo says with a scowl, releasing the amused Fire User. The poor Bird not thinking clearly from the fact that it's spring in both worlds.
A Hero steps forward, having enough talk, and goes to grab Touya.
"HE'S MINE!" Keigo shrieks in a Bird-like way, slashing at the Hero with his talons.
The startled Hero jumps back.
"Ok, WHAT did you do to Hawks?!" the Hero snarls at Touya.
"Hey, don't look at me. This is ALL him," the amused Fire User says, laughing when the quickly growing feral Bird grabs him and pulls him close.
Synopsis; When the thoughts get too loud and Keigo doesn’t feel like himself, you’re there to remind him who he really is.
Keigo Takami (Hawks) x GN!Reader
WC; 1.2k
Warnings; Talks of body dysmorphia and imposter syndrome, mentions of top surgery, mentions of bodily scars, slightly suggestive towards the end but nothing too crazy, slight angst, happy ending, canon divergent
A/N; Extending Pride Month into July with this one. Happy Pride everybody, enjoy trans Keigo. I apologize if I get anything wrong or offended anybody. I, myself, am genderfluid and tried to show case the thoughts and feelings I have when I get body dysmorphia. I’d also like to thank my moot Cam, for telling me about their experiences with body dysmorphia and feelings of imposter syndrome. I hope you all enjoy this and remember, you are who you are and you’re valid in whatever it is you may be.
Keigo has yet to notice you leaning against the doorway to your shared bedroom. He stands in front of the full length mirror, shirt off and sweats swung low on his hips. His fingers trace the scars on his chest while he eyes himself in the reflection.
The sight brings a frown to your face, you hate when he gets like this. Always wondering if it’ll ever be enough, never quite feeling completely like himself.
“Kei,” you speak up when you notice the twitch in his fingers, the only signal he gives when he has the urge to grip at his skin. Like he’s some imposter living in the wrong body.
He tenses, as if not expecting you to be standing there, then lets out a sigh. Its sound is heavy and tired, and makes your heart ache for him.
“Sorry.” It’s halfassed and slightly forced as it falls from his tongue, almost as if he doesn’t mean it, but you know he does. His arms drop to the side, hands clenched into fist as he glares at the reflection.
“Kei…” You trail off upon seeing the way he flinches at the way you speak. With a sigh, you walk towards him. Arms wrapping around his waist, you stand behind him. His wings are folded against his back and you’re careful not to crush them. He’s taller than you, of course he is, the asshole. You have to tilt your head around his shoulder to meet his eyes in the reflection.
Neither of you say anything for a while, chests rising and falling in sync as the sound of your breathing fills the empty silence. He still has his hands in fists while your hands are comfortably resting on the skin of his hips.
He sighs again before lacing his fingers with yours, body relaxing in the safety of your arms, and his eyes soften as he notices the way you look at him. With all the love in the world, he knows he’s safe with you. Like he can be himself with you, even when the imposter syndrome and body dysmorphia kick in.
“You ready to talk about it? Or do you want a distraction?” You keep your voice soft, even, like you’re talking to a wounded animal. But Keigo isn’t wounded, far from it, he just has bad days. Days where he feels trapped in a cage, unable to spread his wings and fly.
“I don’t know, the thoughts are just loud today and nothing feels right.” He frowns at himself and lowers his gaze to the surgical scars once again. You hum softly, thinking over your next words.
“Did something maybe cause it or is this one of those sudden episodes?” You wait patiently for him to come to you, you’ve learned the hard way to never pressure him, let him open up at his own pace. Otherwise, he’ll shut down completely.
He closes his eyes and leans his head back, pondering over everything. As silence carries on, you begin tracing shapes into his skin, the feather light touch gives him goosebumps and you feel his body tremble as he shivers.
“Touya made a comment yesterday, it was an accident, just a slip of the tongue really. He apologized immediately after and I didn’t think anything of it, until this morning I guess.” He squeezes your hands gently, a way to keep you both grounded.
“I won’t ask what he said, but is there any way I can help?” Your cheek is smushed against his shoulder blade and your breath fans across his skin. He shivers again while his feathers ruffle slightly.
He shrugs and you hum again, continuing your shape tracing as you both stand in silence.
“Kei, when you look at yourself, what do you see in the mirror?” You watch as his golden eyes rove over his reflection as he processes your question.
“I don’t- a facade. An imposter, somebody who shouldn’t be here, shouldn’t exist.” His words make you frown deeper and tighten your hold on him.
“You wanna know what I see?” You keep your voice light as you peek from over his shoulder. He simply shrugs again.
“I see Keigo Takami, aka Hawks, the number two hero. But more than that, I see my boyfriend. The love of my life. I see the man I get to wake up next to every morning. The man whose eyes shine like the sun when he’s looking at me. The man who wraps me in his wings and shields us away from the noise of the rest of the world. The man, who despite everything he’s been through, still finds a way to keep flying.” You punctuate every sentence with a pointed look at him and a kiss to his shoulder.
“You have scars Kei, and that’s okay, because it’s just a reminder of another battle you survived. You are more of a man than any biological man I’ve ever met. It doesn’t matter what’s on your chest or between your legs. You are a man Keigo, you’re my man especially and it pains me when you think otherwise. I love you Keigo, every part of you.” You finish your speech and move to stand in front of him.
Chin resting on his chest, you tilt your head to look at him and smile.
“The most handsome stupid birb I have ever seen. The greatest man I have the pleasure of knowing and I get to call him mine. My birdy. My man. My Keigo. Mine.” You hold his gaze, he groans at the silly nickname you’ve taken to calling him occasionally but his body still relaxes against you and you lean up to kiss him.
You only pull away when you feel your lungs screaming for air and Keigo’s smile against your lips.
“Thank you kiwi, you always know just what to say.” His eyes have that twinkle they always do when he calls you that silly nickname. You mention liking kiwi’s one time and he immediately assumes you mean the bird. (You didn’t, you meant the fruit but the look on his face when he called you kiwi as a pet name for the first time was just too pure.)
“You know I’m always here when you have these thoughts. It’s my job as your partner.” You squeal as he lifts you before carrying you to the bed.
“Maybe I should show you my appreciation.” His tone is heavily suggestive as he lays you on the bed gently, his wings unfurling behind him.
“Yeah? Or maybe I should show you just how much I love every part of you?” You counter and his eyes sparkle.
“Why not both?”
“Get over here you stupid bird.”
And with that his body hovers over you, lips meeting in a passionate kiss, and his wings shield you both from the noises of the outside world.
No matter how bad things get or how loud the thoughts become, Keigo knows he’ll always have you there to silence them and help him spread his wings.
He’s a man, but really the only thing that matters to him is that he is your man. Your birdy. Your Keigo. Yours.
