Hawks coming home after a rough patrol absolutely spent, a bit beaten up, just wanting to go to bed. Dabi is already in his apartment, fully intent on harassing the poor Hero like he usually does.
Hawks is uncharacteristically short w him, tho. Obviously not in the mood for antics. Dabi, first offended, pushes. And Hawks snaps at him.
Both of them are surprised by this. Hawks quickly backtracks and apologizes and emphasizes it’s not personal, he’s just exhausted and hurting.
Dabi’s quiet and watches Hawks retreat to his room. A few minutes later and Dabi joins him, supplies in hand to clean Hawks up and tend to the various cuts and scrapes littering his figure. Hawks lets him, mostly bc he feels guilty for snapping and doesn’t want to piss Dabi off further.
But as the care progresses, Hawks can’t help but notice how intentional Dabi’s touch is. He’s careful not to add to the pain. He’s gentle and patient. He doesn’t talk or press. It’s strangely doting and attentive.
Hawks doesn’t get care like that. Every touch he receives is either meant to harm or is purely clinical and vaguely apathetic. Dabi isn’t any of those things. And once he’s done, he finds lotion and rubs.
That’s heavenly. He minds where Hawks winces and works out years of tension in his shoulders, his back, around his wings. He intentionally warms the cream and it Hawks melting.
They don’t talk about it. And Hawks chooses not to dwell on how easy it is for him to lay prone next to a Villain.
