Okay so you’ve talked about Chilaios but also brought up him being paternal to Laios. Please expand.

Okay, so like I said I’m one of those people who can have a ship they love but also go ‘they are platonic besties’.

In this case I love the dynamic of Chilaios but I also am a sucker for the middle aged divorced man realizing he’s basically parenting his boss.

So I have a few ideas.

Idea 1:

Chilchuck meets the Touden siblings when they first get on the island, right around the time he is starting the Guild. Now my guy here isn’t the guy to poking his nose in other people’s buisness. He isn’t going to bother with dealing with people. He has no time.

Yet when he overhears a known scammer who he just put on the official blacklist talking to some newbies he can’t help but step in. Mostly to fuck with the scammer. (Cause fuck this guy)

The Touden siblings end up getting more names of problem parties out of him. This sparks a sort of pseudo friendship with them that slowly develops more into a paternal feel as Chilchuck grows fond of these young adults trying to make it work. When they get enough money to hire him, he’s struck by the realization he LIKES these kids.

It’s very much a ‘wait what’ thing for him. He’s really not that much older than them physically. 3 years older then Laios, maybe 6 years then Falin. He just has way more experience and he is mentally older thanks to his face. He’s facing retirement age for Half Foot.

And like it’s Chilchuck. He won’t admit it until he has to.

Aka he freaks out when Falin is eaten and it comes tumbling out how he’s basically been raising them since they got to the island as a mentor/father figure. And he’s not letting his daughter die like this.

Idea 2:

Sort of similar to various ‘what if Laios was born a woman like that one Omake thing but she ran off’ (which has sparked multiple aus for me honestly) except:

Trans!Man Laios who got married off to a complete asshole. Physically, emotionally, verbally abusive. Just a total fuck and it’s ’normal honey you need to stop worrying’. Finds he’s pregnant and runs away. Goes to magic school to tell Falin he has to run off somewhere else. Marcille overhears this (and the uncharitable thoughts towards Laios vanishing cause holy fuck).

Falin runs away from magic school age thirteen and joins Laios as they escape to the Island, Marcille covering for them. There they meet Chilchuck who has just started adventuring himself. Laios has the kid (a little girl) and needs to keep away from his husband for 5 years to be considered divorced.

Now Chilchuck is just starting out and he’s realizing how awful it is for Half Foot but he’s still a bit naive and hopeful. He helps Laios out and the two actually form a duo as Falin stays back to do odd jobs and raise her niece.

They form a paternal bond, and even Falin considers him a father figure (more so when she discovers her parents KNEW how Laios was treated but did nothing)

I think in this AU, Chilchuck’s marriage doesn’t end as bad as it did because his wife realizes that he has back up and cares deeply. He’s just not the type to show it easily. She doesn’t want to see him die, but with Laios (who has in fact killed their own party members to keep Chilchuck safe from them) she breathes easier.

So maybe it doesn’t even end and they stay married with their three daughters and adoptive Tallmen children.

The day Laios is officially divorced he decides to start his own party as Chilchuck starts the guild. Laios ends up becoming a ‘starter’ party for many young Half-Foot to be able to experience a party without worry.

They do regular hunts further but if a newbie Half-Foot needs some experience Laios is willing to help.

I imagine that they do not make secret of their relationship to Chilchuck which is so confusing for everyone but they end up kinda rolling with it in the end cause fuck it isn’t fine.

Laios’ daughter calls Chilchuck grandpa and it’s cute to by the way.

So yeah… I have some thoughts.
